The Electric Vehicle [EV] was at one time all the rage. The inception of this not so new, but “environment saving vehicle of the future” was going to eradicate all the fossil fuel vehicles, and turn the world into a clean air, nothing ever dies Utopia. At least that’s what the Democrats, and the environmental warriors thought. They were wrong.
Toyota was thought to have been the inventors of the EV with their Prius, but research has revealed it was the Germans in 1994 who actually led the show. This is when they introduced the SMART Car. The name SMART is a derivative of “Swatch Mercedes ART.” But it was renamed “Smart Fortwo.” I have no idea what it means either.
Sales actually started in Europe in 1998, but didn’t reach the American market until 2008. Truth be told, I immediately thought the SMART car was Germany’s revenge for losing two world wars. I mean really, these cars are only 8 feet long, and could hold two average size humans, and very little else. They were, and still are ridiculous.
They struggled at first. Europeans are quite environmentally aware, but even they have their limits. It took the American political theater, in other words, American Democrats who have been since the Al Gore days, been telling the world we were all going to be dead soon, unless we all stopped breathing, using fossil fuel vehicles, and allowing our cows to fart liberally.
With all that doom speak, the Democrats and other earthy types, finally convinced enough low-IQ fools to buy SMART cars and Priuses. The biggest mantra was meant to convince us, or rather guilt us into “reducing our carbon footprint.”
THE EARTH IS
Approximately 5,500,000,000,000,000 square feet. Granted, it’s hard to be absolutely 100% accurate, but that number is from a very scientific calculation completed by unitexplained. com. That said, does anyone really think my size 10 carbon footprint is really having the slightest affect on PLANET earth?
Nonetheless, the environmental warriors blathered on and on about our carbon footprints killing the planet, and the cure was EVs. Well that and giant fans in the middle of farmer’s fields. But I digress.
BACK TO THE ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Car manufacturers jumped on the bandwagon, and started cranking out EVs with a passion. Okay, they didn’t all do this willingly, but powerful politicians everywhere twisted the arms of auto makers, and thus, the EV production went into a frenzy.
Democrats, hippies, and other people concerned about their great, great, great, great, great, great, grandchildren being able to breathe, also jumped on the bandwagon, and made plans to buy an EV as soon as possible.
POLITICIANS GOT EVEN MORE INVOLVED
California governor, Gavin Newsome declared that by 2030, California will be rid of all the evil fossil fuel vehicles, and there will be an EV in every California driveway. Sounds ridiculous? It was, but all the liberals in California were filled with glee, and couldn’t wait to get their EV. That is, until they saw how expensive EVs are, and that had an interesting effect.
Joe Biden, remember Joe? He didn’t want to be left out, so he declared the US military would eventually transition to electric, military vehicles. Tanks and all were planned to go electric, and that made the environmentally minded morons so happy.
Those of us who served in the military, and drove military vehicles quickly recognized how stupid that declaration really was, and secretly hoped it would never happen. Can you imagine, a column of US tanks marching to contact with the enemy, and then getting a low battery warning. Remember, if the batter is dead [or flat for our UK friends], nothing in the tank would work. Not the turret, the gun and its sighting mechanism, nothing. The tank or tanks would be sitting ducks until their batteries could be recharged. Biden was an idiot in more ways than one.
PRESENT DAY
Okay, so there it was. The notion that EVs were going to take over the world, and totally replace those horrid, fossil fuel vehicles took over the brain capacity of simpletons and their allies. That is, until recent times.
This is where reality destroys fantasy, and all the real issues with EVs are coming to light. Elon Musk and his Tesla cars and Cyber Trucks fooled the world that Teslas and Cyber Trucks were the vehicle wave of the future. He was wrong.
After many people bought Teslas and Cyber Trucks, the roadways were full of them, and their owners were more annoying than SMART car owners, and thus, the EV invasion began in earnest. Until reality reared its nasty head.
Tesla owners were soon presented with the true issues with owning a vehicle that relied on APPs and electricity to fully function. Many Tesla owners were stranded in a vehicle that didn’t get the mileage they were promised, and discovered their vehicle batteries were losing charge, just sitting in their parking spaces.
Then there was the issue of Tesla charging stations locations being full of charging Teslas, and that wasted even more time. Remember, time can be more valuable than money, and when a Tesla or Cyber Truck owner finds themselves with a low battery, and needs to charge their vehicle battery, they are at the mercy of Tesla specific charging stations. You see, Teslas can only be charged at Tesla Charging stations.
There are videos of Tesla owners being trapped – you read that right – actually trapped inside of their Teslas that have totally shut down. No feature works as the Tesla can’t, for some reason be started, and even the doors can’t be opened.
Imagine being captive in your car on a hot Florida day, or a freezing Minnesota day, and none of the life saving features can be turned on. Air conditioning or the heat for example are inoperational, and you can’t get the doors open. It has, and still is happening to Tesla owners.
There’s video of one dude trapped in his Tesla, and he was begging the tow truck driver to do anything he could to get the door open. The wrecker driver explained to the trapped man, there was really nothing he could do except tow him. The only problem was, tow truck drivers are forbidden from towing occupied vehicles. That Tesla owner was screwed.
CYBER TRUCK QUALITY
Is garbage to say the least. There are YouTube videos of Cyber Truck owners showing the abysmal quality of the interiors of their trucks. Components falling off or just plain breaking with little to no interaction from the owner.
It’s like there’s no Quality Assurance done at manufacturing, and owners are left to just deal with the poor quality of the vehicle. That and the dismal performance of these and other EV trucks compared to their fossil fuel competitors.
THE FIRES
Then there’s the fires. Other car manufacturers who jumped on the EV bandwagon, didn’t seem to remember how volatile lithium, the prime component in EV batteries, really is. Lithium batteries have caused fires in, and brought down Airline planes that were carrying them in their cargo spaces.
These same batteries are causing fires in EVs parked in driveways, at charging stations, and just about anywhere else. There have been a few deaths related to these fires, but thankfully, they’ve been few and far between. One death is far too many, but at least it hasn’t been tons of deaths.
LITHIUM BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE
Fossil fuel vehicle batteries at most are just under $200 to replace. EV owners have reported it costing roughly $16,000 or more for them to replace their EV batteries. Think about it. You could buy a decent used vehicle for 16K.
And just general repairs? Where can EV owners go to have repairs done? Seriously, I have no idea. Are Trade schools teaching EV Technician skills? I haven’t seen it advertised anywhere. How about you?
THERE YOU HAVE IT
The EV was supposed to save the world from us horrible people trying to kill it. Ridding the planet of fossil fuel vehicles was supposed to be what would ensure the children of centuries from now would be able to breathe clean air and so on.
What has really happened is, EVs have shown how useless and dangerous they really are. Do keep in mind, it takes fossil fuels to produce electricity to a level needed by these EVs, so EVs don’t really actually rid this planet of fossil fuel use.
In fact, it would increase it, and that’s the part all these environmental warrior idiots refuse to admit. It takes about 10 minutes to refuel a fossil fuel vehicle, as opposed to 30 minutes to an hour to recharge an EV.
Never mind the fact that EV owners have a fire hazard parked in their garage or driveway. Or are driving down the road in one that may or may not let them escape. Yup, EVs are here, but the good news is, they are NOT going to completely replace fossil fuel vehicles.
Car manufacturers have stopped making them, and that’s because consumers have stopped buying them. Insurance companies are now refusing to cover EVs, any EV, so that’s having an impact on sales. It’s not looking good for EVs. And that’s a good thing. [Canisters]
