Israel provided intelligence to the United States warning that Iran had allegedly developed a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The reported warning came as tensions between Washington and Tehran intensified following renewed military strikes and threats between the two countries. The alleged plot would represent another escalation in Iran’s threats against Trump, who has remained a focus of Iranian anger since the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force.
Israeli officials shared the information with U.S. officials, according to the Journal. The White House, Israeli officials and Iranian officials have not publicly confirmed the specific details of the intelligence described in the report.
Trump addressed the threat environment Wednesday while speaking with reporters in Ankara, Turkey. He said he believes Iranian leaders want him killed because of the actions he has taken against the regime.
“I’m on every list,” Trump said.
The president also acknowledged the personal risks tied to confronting Iran, saying his decisions have placed him in danger. He said he remains focused on preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, a goal he has repeatedly described as his top priority in dealing with Tehran.
The Journal reported that the intelligence was shared while the United States and Iran remained in a broader confrontation. Trump has warned Tehran of additional military action and said a previous ceasefire arrangement appeared to have broken down.
The alleged assassination plot follows earlier U.S. investigations into Iranian-linked threats against Trump and other American officials. In 2024, the Justice Department charged an individual accused of working with Iran in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire scheme targeting Trump before he returned to the White House.
Iran has denied prior allegations that it sought to assassinate Trump.
The reported intelligence warning adds to the security concerns surrounding Trump as U.S.-Iran tensions continue. While the details described by the Journal have not been publicly confirmed by the governments involved, the allegation comes amid renewed warnings, military action and a worsening dispute between Washington and Tehran.
