Two men injured in 4th of July Monticello melee

MONTICELLO – Two men were injured during a brawl at the Monticello Housing Authority Complex on Evergreen Drive in the village.

At about 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th Monticello Police observed a crowd of 150 to 200 people. Officers located a 32-year-old man with a severe laceration to the head.

With assistance from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and State Police, the crowd dispersed.

Monticello Police were also notified that a 51-year-old man was being treated at Garnet Health Medical Center Catskills in Harris who a gunshot wound to his right foot. That had also occurred during the disturbance.

Both victims declined to cooperate with information as to how their injuries occurred.
