ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the State DOT crews had filled more than 250,000 potholes statewide as part of the largest and most ambitious investment in pavement restoration in New York history.
Regional DOT spokeswoman Heather Pillsworth says it is an ongoing project due to our harsh winters.
“Our dedicated workforce continues making roads smoother and enhancing safety for millions of travelers,” she said. “Where roads aren’t being paved, crews are out filling potholes as part of an unprecedented effort to improve driving conditions across the Empire State.”
As always, the overall message the DOT wants to relay is to slow down in posted speed limits and work zones, whether manned or unmanned. To achieve that goal, more speed cameras are being set up.
“New York State has far too many work zone intrusions each and every day, every week, every month, and every year,” she said. “We need to stop that. And we ask that the public slow down in our work zones”
