KENT – Blue Path Service Dogs, an organization that transforms the lives of children with autism and their families by providing trained service dogs free of charge, has relocated to the Town of Kent from its previous location in Wappingers Falls.
Erica Stanzione, the non-for-profit’s Director of Development, explained that Blue Path’s dogs offer “safety, companionship and freedom serving as both a physical anchor through their ability to prevent bolting and a grounding anchor in everyday life.”
Blue Path’s new headquarters, located off Richardsville Road in a renovated former kennel, features 38 indoor/outdoor runs, a 3,000-square-foot training lodge, two private staff residences, and play yards for the dogs.
Stanzione noted: “Our new home stands for more than a property purchase. It is a long-term investment in our future, one that will expand the impact and help more children and families experience the life changing benefits of a service dog. With each placement, the dogs reduce stress, enhance safety and open new pathways or connection and independence.”
Gabriel, a young boy on the spectrum, welcomed Rex into his home.
Gabriel’s mom, Cynthia, praised Blue Path. “Rex changed everything. He gave Gabriel the confidence to find his voice, move through the world safely and imagine a more independent future. Their bond has shaped who Gabriel is and who he believes he can become. Our family has changed forever.”
