TOWN OF WALLKILL – A more than three-year moratorium on approvals and construction of new warehouse/distribution centers has been lifted by the Wallkill Town Board and Supervisor Frank DenDanto says there are six or seven applications waiting to be acted upon.

Many of the proposals were put forth as speculatory construction, but DenDanto said that is changing with the new plan.

“We are very interested in continuing an active oversight at the planning level to be sure that the applicants that are coming are not building warehouses on spec, that they are actually coming with a business that will occupy the space,” he told Mid-Hudson News.

DenDanto said the new law will prevent over-construction of those giant buildings meant for on-demand sales.
