A White House official stated Friday evening that President Donald Trump remains committed to securing an agreement with Iran only if it fully aligns with American interests and meets a series of non-negotiable conditions established by his administration.

The statement came after Trump convened a high-level meeting in the White House Situation Room to review ongoing diplomatic discussions with Iran and assess a potential framework for extending a ceasefire while pursuing broader negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program.

According to the White House, the meeting lasted approximately two hours and involved senior national security officials, military leaders, and top administration advisers.

“The Situation Room meeting has concluded and lasted approximately two hours,” a White House official told reporters. “President Trump will only make a deal that is good for America and satisfies his red lines. Iran can never possess a nuclear weapon.”

The comments underscore the administration’s continued hardline stance toward Iran as diplomatic efforts intensify to prevent further conflict and address concerns surrounding the country’s nuclear activities.

Earlier in the day, President Trump signaled that a major decision regarding Iran could be approaching. In a post on Truth Social, he indicated that the Situation Room meeting would help determine the next steps as reports emerged suggesting that American and Iranian negotiators had reached the outlines of a possible agreement.

According to reports citing U.S. officials, the proposed framework would extend the ceasefire first reached in April while establishing a 60-day window for intensive negotiations focused on Iran’s nuclear program. The discussions would reportedly address key issues including the future of Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpile, enrichment activities, international inspections, and long-term safeguards designed to prevent the development of nuclear weapons.

Despite signs of diplomatic progress, Trump made it clear that any agreement would need to satisfy several critical requirements before receiving his approval.

Among the president’s primary demands is a formal commitment from Iran that it will never develop or possess a nuclear weapon. The administration has repeatedly emphasized that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities remains its highest priority in the negotiations.

Trump also called for the immediate reopening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital maritime trade corridors. The president insisted that commercial shipping traffic must be allowed to move freely through the waterway without restrictions, tolls, or interference.

In addition, Trump demanded the complete removal of any naval mines believed to be present in the Strait. According to the president, U.S. forces have already cleared a number of mines through military operations, but he argued that Iran must cooperate in eliminating any remaining threats to international shipping.

The president also addressed concerns surrounding Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, which he described as buried deep underground beneath facilities that were allegedly damaged during previous military operations. Trump stated that the United States would work alongside Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency to locate, recover, and ultimately destroy the enriched nuclear material.

According to Trump, the process would require advanced engineering capabilities that only a handful of nations possess. He asserted that the United States would oversee the operation in coordination with international inspectors to ensure the material could never be used for weapons development.

Another notable condition outlined by the president was that no financial incentives or payments would be provided to Iran as part of the agreement, at least for the foreseeable future. Trump emphasized that any deal must focus on security and verification rather than economic concessions.

The president’s remarks reflect his broader approach to negotiations with Tehran, one centered on maximum pressure, strict enforcement measures, and verifiable commitments rather than trust-based arrangements.

However, despite widespread speculation that an agreement could be imminent, reports following the Situation Room meeting suggested that no final decision had been reached.

According to a report citing a senior administration official, the president concluded the meeting without formally approving or rejecting the proposed framework. The official indicated that discussions remain ongoing and that further evaluations will likely take place before any final agreement is announced.

The developments come as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain a major focus of international diplomacy. While supporters of negotiations hope a new agreement could reduce the risk of military confrontation and stabilize the region, significant differences reportedly remain over nuclear restrictions, verification procedures, and the future of Iran’s enrichment program.

For now, the White House is signaling that any breakthrough will depend on whether Iran is willing to meet the administration’s core demands. Until then, officials say President Trump remains committed to a simple principle: Iran must never be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon, and any agreement must guarantee that outcome beyond doubt.
