KINGSTON – The Public Works and Capital Projects Committee of the Ulster County Legislature Monday approved construction or sharing of radio transmission towers to provide for interoperability with all areas of the county and neighboring counties.
The county would expand its current transmission towers to a total of 16 at a total cost of some $34 million, said Committee Chairwoman Kathy Nolan.
“It’s a very large investment by the county for something that is widely perceived as one of the greatest needs that the county has to improve our coverage,” she said.
Committee members tabled another resolution that would consolidate all of Axon’s contracts with the co0unty for body and dash-cameras, and other services pending further explanation.
