NEWBURGH – Governor Hochul’s EXPRESS NY plan is open for submissions through April 3, to give New Yorkers the opportunity to share ideas on how to cut red tape, modernize regulations, and make government work better.
State Secretary of State Walter Mosley told Mid-Hudson News on Tuesday that it takes too long to build in New York.
The governor’s plan would cut through red tape, Mosley said.
“We’re talking about projects like parks or trails, or we’re talking about childcare facilities, or we’re talking about water infrastructure projects, projects that the baseline is pretty simple, is pretty consistent throughout the State of New York, how do we eliminate situations where it would slow down the process of getting that eventual approval,” he said.
In Newburgh, City Councilwoman Tamika Stewart is pushing for a “green light” process to do just that, move projects along that much quickly.
Mosley said projects impacting the environment would still have to follow the state environmental quality review; however, he acknowledged that could be streamlined as well.
