During a recent appearance on The Arena on Monday, U.S. Representative Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) discussed the ongoing U.S. military actions aimed at dismantling key Iranian military infrastructure tied to the protection of its nuclear enrichment activities.

Landsman suggested that the operation is likely nearing its conclusion, noting that the mission was designed to target a limited number of strategic sites.

According to Landsman, the objective of the operation has been to eliminate critical components of Iran’s military capabilities that support or protect its nuclear program.

These targets include missile systems, launchers, drones, rockets, and other defensive infrastructure believed to shield facilities involved in uranium enrichment.

Speaking during the interview, Landsman expressed concern about the clarity of information coming from the White House.

He criticized President Donald Trump for what he described as inconsistent messaging regarding the operation. Landsman argued that the president should be the primary and most reliable source of information during sensitive military engagements.

“The president has been a pretty bad source of information on this,” Landsman said. “Unfortunately, the president should be the core source of information. The head of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Caine, has actually been much clearer.”

Landsman referenced Gen. Caine, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as providing a more straightforward explanation of the mission’s goals. According to Landsman, the military’s directive has been clearly defined: identify and neutralize weapons systems and defensive structures that enable Iran to protect or expand its nuclear enrichment operations.

He explained that because the list of strategic targets is limited, the operation itself was never expected to be long-lasting. Once those targets are successfully eliminated, the mission would effectively conclude.

“That’s the operation,” Landsman said. “Take out the missiles, the launchers, the drones, the rockets, and the infrastructure protecting their enrichment activity. And that should be coming to a close, because there were only so many targets.”

Landsman suggested that clearer communication from the administration at the outset could have helped avoid confusion among the public and lawmakers. He believes that if the president had explained from the beginning that the mission was a narrowly defined military operation rather than an open-ended conflict, it would have been easier for Americans to understand the purpose and scope of the action.

“Had the president been clear about this from the very beginning,” he added, “most people would have said, ‘Okay, that makes more sense.’ But he’s been all over the place, and that’s just how he is. And it’s a huge problem.”

Later in the interview, Landsman emphasized that the administration should reassure the public that the operation is limited in scope and nearing completion. He argued that clear messaging about the mission’s endpoint could also help calm economic concerns, particularly regarding energy prices.

According to Landsman, once the targeted military sites have been destroyed and the mission officially ends, it could reduce uncertainty in global markets.

“Trump should be very clear that this is a limited operation,” Landsman said. “It’s about to be over. They have certain targets, and once they are finished with those targets, they are done.”

He added that greater transparency about the timeline and goals of the mission could help stabilize oil markets and potentially ease pressure on gasoline prices for American consumers.

Landsman concluded by stressing that effective communication during international military operations is essential not only for public trust but also for economic stability at home.
