PORT JERVIS – Port Jervis Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Vicchiariello has advised that a large volume of ice is expected to travel downriver past the Barryville area, without any problems over the weekend.
Vicchiariello said the National Park Service, regional emergency units, and officials are monitoring the progression of the ice movement, which is expected to pass by freely, and without problems.
Meanwhile, Port Jervis, Deerpark, and other communities along the river are keeping an eye on the ice flow. They will advise of anything other than continued smooth movement, but reassured that they are not expecting any problems.
Vicchiarriello noted that the regularly scheduled local monthly siren test did not take place Friday, in order not to alarm anyone.
