LIBERTY – A 19-year-old Liberty man has been arrested following an investigation into a domestic dispute at a residence on Chestnut Street in the Village of Liberty.
Following an investigation, village police determined that Preston Wood, 19, was verbally and physically abusive toward a woman. Investigation revealed that he pulled the woman to the ground by the neck of her sweatshirt, causing her difficulty breathing, and then kicked her in the ribs.
She attempted to retreat to another room; however, Wood kicked the door down, pushed her against a wall, forcibly took her phone, and refused to allow her to leave the residence.
When officers attempted to take him into custody during the February 19 incident, he resisted arrest. He was ultimately restrained and taken into custody.
Police charged Wood with criminal mischief as a felony and misdemeanors of resisting arrest, unlawful imprisonment, assault and criminal obstruction of breathing.
Wood was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $250 cash bail, $500 bond, or $1,000 partially secured bond.
