Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to provide sworn testimony Friday before the House Oversight Committee as part of its ongoing investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, becoming the first former president to testify under a congressional subpoena.

The deposition will take place behind closed doors in Chappaqua, New York, the Clintons’ hometown. Lawmakers confirmed the session follows a six-hour deposition given Thursday by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before the same panel.

The back-to-back appearances come after negotiations between attorneys for the Clintons and House Republicans over the format and scope of the testimony. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer insisted on in-person, recorded depositions rather than written statements or sworn declarations submitted remotely.

According to committee officials, the depositions are part of a broader inquiry into Epstein’s associations and any potential connections to public officials. The Clintons have not been accused of criminal wrongdoing.

Following her testimony, Hillary Clinton told reporters that she does not believe her husband was aware of Epstein’s criminal conduct during their interactions.

Comer has stated that both the video recordings and written transcripts of the depositions will be released publicly once the Clintons approve their publication, a step required under committee procedures.

The House Oversight Committee has not provided a timeline for the release but indicated that disclosure would occur promptly after review. The closed-door setting reflects the sensitive nature of the inquiry, which involves allegations tied to Epstein’s activities and network of associates.

Friday’s session marks a rare instance of a former president appearing under subpoena before Congress, underscoring the heightened scrutiny surrounding Epstein’s connections to prominent political and business figures.
