CHESTER – SUNY Orange, the county’s two-year community college, is collaborating with the county on the development of a post-high school advanced technology training center in Chester.
The county is in the process of redeveloping a former school building in that village, and College President Dr. Kristine Young supports the effort.
“Writing an essay doesn’t necessarily mean you’re in college. Advanced training with your hands, an apprenticeship, an internship, that is college, and as working with advanced manufacturing, learning with the trades, that could very well be aligned with college, and I admire the innovation the county executive has in mind with Chester,” she said.
The County envisions crafting a center in conjunction with manufacturers and others to develop the workforce for their specific needs.
