U.S. military forces carried out a lethal strike Monday against a vessel operating along known narcotics trafficking routes in the Caribbean, killing three individuals described by officials as narco-terrorists.

In a statement shared publicly, SOUTHCOM said the operation was conducted Feb. 23 “at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan,” adding that Joint Task Force Southern Spear “conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations.”

According to the statement, “Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Caribbean and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations.” SOUTHCOM further stated, “Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed.”

The strike represents the latest action under Operation Southern Spear, an ongoing campaign targeting maritime drug trafficking operations. More than 35 vessels described as drug boats have been destroyed since late 2025 as part of the initiative.

Officials have said the sustained pressure campaign has resulted in the deaths of more than 100 individuals identified as narco-terrorists. The effort coincides with the Trump administration’s broader strategy of intensifying measures against transnational drug networks and increasing pressure on the Maduro regime.

No additional operational details were released regarding the vessel’s origin, cargo, or affiliation beyond its designation as being operated by a terrorist organization. Military officials did not report any U.S. casualties in connection with the strike.
