WAWAYANADA – The Town of Wawayanda is considering the consolidation of five small water districts.
Four are residential and one is commercial. Town Supervisor Denise Quinn said if approved, they will maintain their independent operations.
“We are not going to hook them all up to each other; they are going to remain independent systems and run the way they are now. It’s just that we are consolidating them to make it easier for the maintenance and the operations and all the paperwork, and also to improve the possibility of getting approved for grants,” she said. “For one of our water districts, we have tried three years in a row and they haven’t scored high enough.”
Quinn said the town board will leave the decision to merge up to the residents in the districts.
