BREWSTER – It was an evening to remember when 308 musicians descended on the Brewster Performing Arts Center at Brewster High School Saturday for the district’s first annual String-a-Palooza.

The night was a celebration of the orchestra program in the Brewster School District for grades 4-12 and included music of Vivaldi, Pachelbel, and even Led Zeppelin.

Teachers Kim Orwick, Hideo Schwartz, and Angela Gullo spent months preparing their students for the massive undertaking.

The trio explained the goal of the event was to “foster a broader sense of musical community across buildings, showing older students how far they have come and younger students where they will go if they continue participating in the performing arts.”

As one attendee noted: “The evening was magical–an undertaking for students, parents, administrators, and the entire Brewster community.”
