CARMEL – Cops were out in force in Putnam County partaking in a large-scale, multi- agency enforcement initiative involving some 250 officers from the Putnam Sheriff’s Department, Westchester County police departments, NYPD, FBI, and the New York State Police.
Sheriff Brian Hess said Wednesday the effort was part of a “coordinated, intelligence-driven operation focused on addressing the crimes residents are most concerned about.” Police leveraged Real Time Crime Center resources and were able to communicate on a unified channel which the sheriff said “enabled swift coordination and safe effective enforcement across jurisdictions.”
During the operation, sheriff’s deputies and investigators conducted enforcement throughout the county’s six towns that resulted in arrests for narcotics offenses, assistance to partner agencies during an active vehicle pursuit, multiple warrant service attempts, and targeted traffic enforcement. Hess commended the joint effort: “This operation highlights what can be accomplished when agencies work together with shared information, strong communication, and a unified goal.”
He also thanked Putnam’s law enforcement partners for “their coordination and hard work in making this initiative a success, and to our deputies and investigators for the tremendous job they did protecting the residents of Putnam County, even under the most challenging conditions.”
Specific arrests and apprehensions were not revealed.
