CARMEL – The Urgent Care facility located at the Shop-Rite Plaza in Carmel will be closed for a couple of days due to a pipe that burst as a result of near zero temperatures.

Carmel Fire Department personnel were summoned to the medical facility hours before the snow began to fall Sunday which was closed at the time for a report of smoke alarm activation and when they arrived they found a heavy odor of electrical burning.

Crews requested mutual aid from the Lake Carmel Fire Department and traced the problem to a sprinkler head and nearby pipe that exploded when freezing.

The facility suffered water damage.

No injuries were reported to firefighting personnel.
