The House Sharia Free America Caucus has added roughly two dozen members in less than one month, bringing its total membership to 26 lawmakers since its formation late last year, according to an announcement released Thursday.
The caucus was formally launched on Dec. 18, 2025, by Texas Republican Reps. Keith Self and Chip Roy. Its stated mission is to oppose what its founders describe as the growing influence of Sharia law in the United States, which they argue is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution.
Among the newest members are House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Florida Reps. Byron Donalds, Randy Fine, and Cory Mills, and Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs. Lawmakers joining the caucus represent 17 states, according to organizers.
In a statement announcing the expansion, Self said the caucus was focused on protecting constitutional principles and civil liberties. He argued that Sharia law conflicts with foundational American values and individual freedoms, and he thanked colleagues for supporting what he described as an effort to preserve Western legal traditions.
Roy said the rapid growth of the caucus was encouraging and claimed that confronting the influence of Sharia law is necessary to safeguard the nation’s constitutional framework. He added that immigration policy should be equipped to address what he described as ideological threats to American legal norms.
Additional members who have joined the caucus include Pennsylvania Reps. Mike Kelly and Scott Perry, Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, South Carolina Rep. Ralph Norman, and Georgia Rep. Andrew Clyde.
Caucus leaders said they expect continued interest from House Republicans as the group advances its legislative and policy priorities in the coming months.
