WHITE PLAINS – A 36-year-old Mount Vernon man has pled guilty in Westchester County Court to manslaughter for stabbing another local man to death in 2024.

District Attorney Susan Cacace said Ronald Hechavarria is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision when sentenced in April for killing 37-year-old Michael Clay of Mount Vernon on August 1, 2024.

After killing Clay, Hechavarria absconded to Norfolk, Virginia where he was later arrested as a fugitive from justice and returned to Westchester County.
