POUGHKEEPSIE – “Community Santa” Frank Flowers, 52, of Poughkeepsie was arrested in December on misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and the violation of endangering the welfare of a child. At least one of those charges appears to have been upgraded to a felony, following an indictment by a Dutchess County Grand Jury. The charges stem from a December 9, 2025, incident where he allegedly choked the mother of his most recent child and then struck her several times in her head and face. All of the actions allegedly took place in front of their six-month-old child at the Flowers residence on Park Avenue in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Flowers was scheduled to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on January 12th, but Mid-Hudson News has been told by sources familiar with the investigation that Flowers has been indicted on at least one felony charge and the case will be moving to Dutchess County Court once the paperwork is completed.
The new charges and court date were not immediately available.
Flowers has been charged with felonies in recent years in Connecticut and entered guilty pleas to charges related to a domestic violence case involving Flowers and the mother of another one of his children in 2024. A condition of his plea agreement required him to refrain from being arrested for two years or risk going to prison. The prosecutor in Connecticut, David Shannon, is aware of the recent New York charges and said, “I have been in contact with the D.A. assigned the case (in Dutchess County) and told him that we will pursue a violation of his conditional discharge if and when he is convicted in NY.”
