The United States has captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, President Trump announced.

The arrest of the ex-President followed by a military strike in the country by the USA.

“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” Trump announced in a Truth Social post.

However, there is no immediate confirmation from the Venezuelan government yet.

Conflict between Venezuela and the US continues for the last many months due to drug-trafficking related issues, with the US military destroying many vessels carrying drugs.

The US has accused Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro of running a “narco-state” and rigging the 2024 election, while Maduro claims the US wants to seize control of Venezuela’s massive oil reserves, the largest in the world.

The US had imposed sanctions on Venezuela and carried out military strikes against alleged drug trafficking boats and gave multiple warnings.
