MONTICELLO – Sullivan County officially welcomed its newest county treasurer, Kathleen Lara, during a swearing-in ceremony on Friday in the legislative hearing room at the Government Center. State Supreme Court Justice Meagan Galligan and Sullivan County Court Judge E. Danielle Jose-Decker administered the oath.

“I, Kathleen Lara, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of Sullivan County Treasurer according to the best of my ability, so help me God.” C

Afterwards, she spoke to the people of the county.

“Being sworn in today isn’t about authority. It’s about responsibility. Every dollar that passes through my office represents somebody’s paycheck, someone’s tax bill, and their trust in government,” Lara said. “My goal is simple. To serve thoughtfully, transparently, and in a way that earns the confidence of the people we serve.”
