POUGHKEEPSIE – The fallout of repeated arrests of Frankie Flowers for domestic violence has resulted in several community-based organizations cutting ties with John Flowers Community Events (JFCE).  On Friday morning, (CM2), the fiscal sponsor of JFCE, announced that Frankie Flowers will step away from his father’s legacy, John Flowers Community Events.

Community Matters 2 has served as the fiscal sponsor for JFCE since 2024, when Family Services Inc. severed its relationship with JFCE following the arrest of Frankie Flowers for domestic violence charges in Connecticut.  JFCE is not a registered non-profit organization in New York, which requires them to enlist the assistance of a fiscal sponsor to account for funds.  Those charges resulted in Flowers pleading guilty to two separate counts of criminal trespass.

CM2 published a statement on Friday, saying in part, “In order to move forward in a way that best honors the integrity, mission, and legacy of these events, the decision was made that Frankie Flowers will step away from the John Flowers Community Events.  We will continue working with the Flowers family and the many supporters who remain committed to preserving the legacy of the late John Flowers and all he represented for our community.”

Founded by L’Quette Taylor, CM2 is run by a board that includes Kadiyah Lodge as President, Micah Bennett as Vice-President, and Gabriella Fryer as Secretary.  City of Poughkeepsie Council Chair Da’Ron Wilson serves on the board along with George Watts and Ramon Pineiro III.

“As an organization serving the City of Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County, we followed our proper internal review procedures and determined that stepping away from such an important community legacy would be a disservice to the countless families and residents who benefit from it. This was not an easy process, and we acknowledge that this decision, including Frankie Flowers’ departure from the organization, played a significant role in helping us move forward responsibly,” the statement also said.
