The San Jose Sharks delivered one of their most complete offensive performances of the season Monday night, defeating the Utah Mammoth 6–3 behind a dominant four-point outing from veteran forward Tyler Toffoli. The win showcased a well-balanced attack, emerging young talent, and a burst of confidence from a roster still shaping its identity.

Toffoli set the tone early and never let up, scoring twice and adding two assists in a game where San Jose controlled the tempo from the opening puck drop. His chemistry with rookie center Macklin Celebrini and rising star Will Smith fueled a relentless offensive push that Utah struggled to match.

Smith, continuing his impressive season, struck twice and added an assist, bringing him to 12 goals on the year. His speed and vision created mismatches throughout the game, and his growing connection with Celebrini and Toffoli has become one of the Sharks’ most dynamic weapons.

Pavol Regenda made an immediate impact in his Sharks debut, burying a first-period power-play goal just hours after being recalled from the AHL. Adam Gaudette added his seventh of the season with a smooth backhand finish during the second-period surge that ultimately sealed the game.

Celebrini, the top pick in the 2024 draft, recorded three assists—his eighth multi-point game of the season—and continues to climb the rookie scoring leaderboard with 26 points. Sharks goaltender Yaroslav Askarov supported the offensive onslaught with 31 saves, turning away several high-danger chances that prevented Utah from closing the gap.

Utah found offense through Lawson Crouse, who scored twice—including a short-handed goal in the third period—and JJ Peterka, who gave the Mammoth life late in the first period. But every Utah push was met by an immediate answer from San Jose.

The Sharks signaled their intentions early. Toffoli opened the scoring at 4:41 of the first period, finishing a crisp sequence set up by Celebrini and Smith. Regenda quickly followed with a poised deflection on the power play, rewarding the coaches for their decision to bring him up from the AHL.

Even after Crouse cut the lead to one, Toffoli responded again—burying his second goal of the night at 12:59 to restore the two-goal cushion. It marked the third time this season San Jose has scored three goals in the opening period, a trend that reflects a growing offensive identity.

Peterka briefly tightened the score to 3–2 before the first intermission, but the Sharks delivered a knockout stretch in the second period.

Between 6:16 and 9:09, San Jose erupted for three goals. Smith scored first, capitalizing on a slick feed from Celebrini. Gaudette followed with a deft backhand, and Smith added his second of the night—once again aided by Toffoli—to give the Sharks a commanding 6–2 advantage.

Crouse’s short-handed goal in the third offered a spark for Utah, but the Mammoth never got closer as the Sharks tightened defensively and controlled possession down the stretch.
