All right, moving on to Tony Romo, who is out at CBS after that OWI arrest back in July. Remember
that was the one in Wisconsin. He was leaving the golf tournament and he had the field sobriety test
where he sort of looked out of it and ultimately ended up blowing almost twice the legal limit.
Well, CBS sort of put him on ice for the time being as J.J. Watt was filling in and now it's
J.J. Watt's job full-time. He will become Jim Nance's permanent partner because, again, Tony
Romo is out. Now, Tony had this really lucrative contract that he signed about six years ago. He
had signed a 10-year $180 million deal, so obviously making $18 million a year, guys,
and there were four years remaining. So they owed him $72 million. It's unclear exactly what's going
to happen with the financials here, but you definitely make no mistake that Tony Romo is
going to get some money from CBS. How much? We just don't know, but bottom line is you're not,
you know, like, you know, listen, Jim, you're not going to hear any of that anymore. Yeah,
I don't know, Jim. Yeah, no, it's wild. I mean, like there was a while there where people were
like, wow, Tony Romo is amazing at commentating. I mean, he did three Super Bowls. Yeah, he's doing
well. Maybe the last couple of years falling off, not as sharp as he was. Yeah, but I mean,
I don't know. I don't know if this is the end of commentating for him, right? It is.
You know, he, yeah, he's got a lot of life left in him. Guys commentate really late in life. So
I don't think it's the end for Tony Romo. He has more juice in the tank. I feel like he was good.
I enjoyed him as a commentator. He did a pretty good job. I did too. I honestly think this is
kind of a little bit BS on CBS's part. I feel like this was like, kind of like he got the short end
of the stick because I think notoriously there've been a lot, a lot of people in that play in the
NFL, not just commentated that have done a lot worse stuff and have gotten slaps on the wrist.
This did not, nobody was hurt. He didn't, he didn't, he didn't strike me as doing anything
crazy in the, in the body camp footage at all. Obviously what he did is wrong. Call the Uber from
the golf course. I think we can all agree on that, but I think this is kind of extreme for,
for what it did. I don't really think the ends justify the means at all at all. Cause I mean,
I think he was pretty universally liked on CBS. I don't think, I don't think that's to deny,
you know? I wonder too that like JJ Watt filling in these first couple of weeks, like maybe they
were like, dang, he did a good job. Good job. Cause I watched one of the games he was commentating
and I was, I was into it. It wasn't amazing. Didn't blow my socks off, but I was like,
this is getting the job over here. You said he didn't do anything crazy in the body cam footage.
Do we have it right here? I think he did some yoga poses that were, I've watched so many body
camera footage videos over the years. You see, I would counter your counterpoint by saying that I
think that's hilarious. And he gave us a gift with that. I agree with that completely. Yeah.
We never, you know, like don't drive drunk and he's got all the money in the world to get a
driver or Uber, whatever. But ultimately nobody was hurt. I do think that if CBS loved him and
wanted to keep him, they would have kept him. Let's be honest. They, I think they were paying
him a lot of money and maybe they had sort of fallen out of love with him a little bit.
I think it's interesting. We'll see if anybody else ultimately hires him. I mean, you look at
Fox, they, you want to talk about paying a big contract. They are paying Tom Brady a lot of
money. I mean, reportedly over $300 million. So I don't know. That's an option. You've,
of course, you've got, you've got ABC slash ESPN. You've got the streaming networks too. So
there are jobs out there and Tony Romo knows football, whether you like his style or not.
He's there are, there are definitely, uh, he, he knows football as well as anybody. So we'll see
if anybody else hires him. He has said that he is one proud of what he did at CBS, which you'd
expect, but that he is going to take some time with his family and sort of chill a little bit.
So if he does intend to come back, I don't think you're going to see it this season,
maybe next year. Stay tuned.
