This Will UNLOCK The Houston Texans
2 Video Views·Oct 8, 2026
This might unlock the Houston Texans as we got some big news today regarding new changes made
to the Texans defense. Is this exactly what the team needs to make a big turnaround or is it
already too late for a team that's 0-4 to start off the season? What's up ladies and gentlemen,
welcome back to Texans Digest. I'm your host as always, Izzy Estrada. Man, we got a lot we need
to talk about today regarding the Houston Texans. We got some big defensive changes that we made.
We're going to dive into all that and more today on Texans Digest. Man, but right before we talk
about that, about 90% of you guys still not subscribed. So, do your boy a favor, hit that
subscribe button. We are very quickly approaching 3,000 subscribers, so it would be much appreciated
if you were to subscribe. But man, let's dive right into it. Let's dive right into it. So,
a few days ago, when talking to the media, when they were asking D'Amico Ryans if he's considered
taking over plays defensively, he said, we will see how that goes. We got the news today. Today,
we got the news that we were all hoping to hear, that we were all hoping would come for a long,
long time. Texans head coach D'Amico Ryans announced that he will be officially taking
over defensive play calling duties from defensive coordinator Matt Burke. Houston is currently 26th
in the league in scoring defense after finishing second last year. That is great news for the
Houston Texans defense. For a defense that has struggled, and I'm going to dive into it a little
bit later on, but in my last video, I said, hey, I think this defense can still be great,
and I'm not giving up on this defense. I got torn to shreds for saying that. And we're going to dive
into it a little bit later on because maybe I didn't articulate myself better enough. I know
this Houston Texans defense has not been great. A lot of people have been putting up the stats. I
get it. Houston Texans defense is 26th in the league right now in terms of scoring. I understand
that. I know that. I know this Houston Texans defense hasn't been great. I think they can still
be great, and I think they've shown flashes that they have been great. We're going to dive into
all that and more today, man, but just great news to start us off. Great news that D'Amico Ryans is
taking over as defensive play caller once again. Defensive minor head coach, he should have been
doing that to start with. So yesterday, we had dove into the fact that a lot of media members
are tearing up the Houston Texans defense. I'm kind of shocked that the Houston Texans defense
is kind of the reason they're 0-4. That's what Darius Butler said on the Pat McAfee show.
Dan Orlovsky said, I think their defense is predictable. Liger Dowsel, former New York
Jet player, when talking to CBS on NFL, we can't say this defense is elite anymore. There's some
concerns with the Houston Texans. My main point was that I think that this Houston Texans defense,
I get it. This Houston Texans defense isn't as good as they used to be last year. I understand
that. I think they can still be great, and they've shown flashes that they can be great.
I think that defensive line has shown that they can be a great defensive line.
Let's dive into it, man. So against the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, I had said
going into this game, hey, if you can slow Jonathan Taylor down, maybe we're going to have
a shot to win this game. We're 0-2 at the time. I said, hey, this is a winnable game. You gotta
slow Jonathan Taylor down. That's exactly what this Houston Texans defense did. Jonathan Taylor,
one of the most explosive backs in the league, 23 carries for 68 yards. We did a great job of
slowing him down. He averaged three yards a carry. Obviously for Daniel Jones, he had himself a good
game. I get it. That pass attack has not been there for the Houston Texans. I get it. I think
it can be better, but I don't think it's the worst in the world. I think we did a great job of slowing
down Jonathan Taylor. You guys know what the issue was. The Houston Texans offense could not
get going. We kept having chunk plays that would go nowhere, and it ended up having the Indianapolis
Colts offense marching down the field and kicking a game-winning field goal that caused us to go to
0-3. I get that. I think that the defense showed that they have flashes. In this game, they showed
it. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, people were frying me for it yesterday. We held the Cincinnati
offense to seven points in the first half. Is that not great? Is that not a good sign for this team?
The offense couldn't keep up with it, and I've said it time and time again, and I'm going to
double down on it right now, which might give me a little fried. I'm going to double down on it right
now. When a defense plays so well, when they hold an offense to seven points in the first half,
and they give that ball back into the hands of their own offense, and that offense continuously
does nothing, such as the Houston Texans offense did against the Bengals, it becomes demoralizing
for a defense to keep having to go out there. Go against Joe Burrow. Zone coverage, man coverage,
whichever one you guys want to argue about, against Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins. Every single time,
slow them down just for that Houston offense to do absolutely nothing. Just for that Houston
offense to go out there and put up two field goals. It becomes demoralizing for a defense,
and you saw that in the second half against the Cincinnati Bengals. That defense slowly started
to crack a little bit. Jamar Chase got himself a phenomenal grab. Another touchdown was racked
up on the board by Jamar Chase as well. I understand that. I know that. I just don't
think it's worth beating up on this Houston Texans defense and saying they're one of the worst in the
league. I don't think that that's accurate at all, saying that they've been one of the worst
defense in the leagues. I think they've shown flashes that they can be great. Derek Stingley
had talked about it when talking to the media today. He said, hey, this defense just isn't
having that great of communication. I agree. We got to have better communication. As a Houston
Texans fan, maybe you can call it a little bit of delusion. I'm just not willing to give up on
this defense. I'm not willing to say that this defense is terrible and we need to call it wraps,
and I got a little bit of fuel added to my fire today when I saw that D'Amico Ryans is officially
defensive play calling duties again from defensive coordinator Matt Burke.
Let's take a look, man. Since we want to talk about a lot of stats, let's take a look here.
From MLA Football, insane Texans superstar Will Anderson Jr. is on pace for a monster season. This
is what he's on pace for. Obviously, I don't know if he's, I don't think he's going to get this.
This is what he's on pace for. 19 sacks, 98 tackles, 30 tackles for losses, 47 QB hits,
four forced fumbles. Will Anderson Jr. already on the season has 4.5 sacks, 23 tackles, 7 tackles
for losses, 11 QB hits through four games. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, he was flying around.
Same thing against the Indianapolis Colts. Obviously, I get that. Against the Buffalo
Bills, against the Dallas Cowboys, two great offenses, by the way, the defense struggled,
but there's still so many bright spots in this defense that I think that we're overlooking it
and saying this defense is terrible, we need to call it wraps on the defense. No, we do not need
a clean house on the defense, except maybe Reed Blankenship. I'm not going to lie, because I did
see some of the comments and people were saying, dude, we're having to run zone coverage so much
because Reed Blankenship cannot cover his man. I know that. That was pretty evident in week one
against the Buffalo Bills whenever he was guarding D.J. Moore and fumbling the bag.
I understand that. I just don't think it's time to call wraps on this defense and say, hey,
this defense is terrible, this defense, we need to call it wraps. And yesterday, I was defending
our team saying, hey, all this outside noise, all this outside noise from the media, I don't think
it's warranted. And a lot of people were saying, yes, it is. You clearly have not watched the game.
What Texans games have you been watching? Let's have a heart to heart for a minute.
I'm not going to give up hope on this Houston Texans defense unless they lose this Sunday to
the Tennessee Titans. Then I'll call it wraps. Then I'll say you guys are right. But right now,
I'm going to be a little bit of an illusional Houston Texans fan and wish the best for my team
and say that this defense can still be great and say that, hey, D'Amico Ryans is calling plays now
defensively. Great. Say, hey, Wale Anderson Jr. is currently number one projected right now to
win defensive player of the year. Great. Derek Stingley is slowly but startly. Nah, actually,
Derek Stingley. That game against C.D. Lamb, I'm not going to lie, that kind of caused me to lose
a little bit of faith in him. But Derek Stingley can still be great. This defensive line is going
to get Kayden McDonald on there for the first time this season. Pretty soon, they open up the 21-day
window for him. That's going to help a lot. And let's talk about this offense for a little bit.
This offense is going to get Tank Dell back. Unfortunately, Nick Haley is still calling the
plays. But C.J. Stroup proved this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys that when you open up that
playbook for him, he can make great plays. A lot of those plays drawn up were terrible. Again, I've
talked about it 50 times. You're running the ball when David Montgomery is going nowhere. You're
dumping it off underneath on third down, leaving your quarterback in a terrible position.
They've done that multiple times. In the fourth quarter, in a big play against the Dallas Cowboys,
I talked about it yesterday. First and 20 were dumping it off to Foster Monroe on the screen.
Why? I think this offense can be great. You just have to open it up. Stop closing up the playbook
for a guy who's always thrived more when it's been split wide open like the Red Sea.
From Ohio State to Houston in his first few years, he's always played better that way.
I don't think we need to close that up now. Something that I do want to talk about to cap
off this video. I think this is kind of why the reason the Houston Texans fans, maybe we're going
a little bit sour on this team. The last time the Houston Texans had a win, January AFC wildcard
game versus the Steelers. Insane. Insane to think that that's the last time we had victory
in our lungs as Houston Texans fans. And it's very easy to go a long time without a win
and start realizing, hey, we've gone so long without a win. And it becomes demoralizing.
0-4 to start off the season. Haven't had a taste of victory since last year in the playoffs.
It's very easy to give up on this team. I don't think we need to do that, man.
I don't think we need to give up on this team. I don't think it's time to do that. If we lose to
the Tennessee Titans, I'll start teetering that line. But as of right now, D'Amico Ryans is back
calling plays defensively. Will Anderson Jr. is having a great season. I think we can still make
plays. I think if we get this win against the Tennessee Titans, that's going to be a huge boast
of confidence for this team. You finally get on the board. You're finally, your mind's going a
little bit clearer. You're thinking, okay, finally, we got a win. We got a taste of what it can be
like again. Let's capitalize. We still got a long season ahead of us. Brevin Jordan had said it.
Brevin Jordan, when talking to the media on Sunday's loss, had said it. Had said, hey,
I have faith in this team. I think this team can still be 13-4 to finish off the season.
I'm not saying that we should automatically believe the Texans are going to win out. They
haven't given us any reason to prove that. Just put a little bit more faith in this team, man.
We've gone through the ups and downs as this team. Now that we're tasting a little bit of
the past few years, let's not forget, man, these Houston Texans have been through it.
Let's ride with this team a little bit longer, man, and see how it goes.
Let's push the panic button after this Sunday. Let's wait to see. Let's wait to see. Last year,
0-3, we win 10 straight. This year, 0-4, I get it. Defense is not playing as well.
Just give it a minute, man. Let it marinate for a minute. D'Amico Ryans is back calling plays
defensively. Let's get it a minute. But thank you guys so much for watching today here on Texans
Digest. Don't give up on this team if you want to. I understand that. But I think this is really
going to separate bandwagon Houston Texans fans from real fans right now. Thank you guys so much
for watching. Have a great day. Have a blessed day. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
