Some very good news coming from the Florida Panthers a huge update on Alexander Barkov
Most of you probably heard and yes everyone in the organization all the players coaches staff front office are very happy
Especially after what had happened last season guys. This is Panthers digest
I'm your host Greg Andrews comment like share subscribe hype up the video
Appreciate you guys tuning in and supporting me the channel and the Florida Panthers
Well as you probably have already seen the post from Jamison Olive and it started to spread like wildfire
Everywhere, excuse me. Let me move my microphone a little closer. There we go
It's good news for the Florida Panthers. It is not season-ending. We already knew that but the 10 to 12 week window was a bunch
of BS
Yes, I was reporting on that because that's what every single person out there was stating and it was spreading as well
The news and the reason why my episode earlier today was like man
This could be pretty bad is because they were taking a lot of time
It had a very harsh reality feel like it did last season
Where we were gonna get some bad news
That's why it's taking a little bit longer because they're getting multiple opinions on this trying to figure out what they're gonna do
Who's the best person to go ahead with whatever they were gonna do?
That was the worry and
As well as Barkov's reaction when he walked off the ice all of these things seem to play hand-in-hand with I think worst-case scenario
But now the Florida Panthers have come out
Not said exactly what it is, and I'm going to actually talk about what it possibly could be that was kind of speculated already
Still waiting on an answer exactly what it is. But now we definitively have a time frame here
Good news six to eight week recovery non-surgical rehab is in the plan for Alexander Barkov
great
news
I'm gonna share a quote from Paul Maurice and others from the Florida Panthers on what they think about this
right now
But this is great news guys
Great news
Paul Murray said that's our best window could be a little less could be a little more
It is a huge sigh of relief for this team if he hadn't been injured last year
We would have thought six or eight weeks was a long time. I think last year was six to eight months
So hey, we'll take it. I would have to agree with Paul Murray's
Six to eight weeks does not feel like it's gonna be that long. The season is young. Thank goodness
this isn't like halfway through the season and
You know, we're trying to get points and vibe for a playoff spot or what have you?
So now instead of it looking like Christmas New Year's
We are going to be talking about
probably somewhere near the end of
November
beginning of December
great news
Let's keep rocking here with some of the other Panthers
Marie said he's our captain and we miss him. He feels it when he's not around
He's probably the happiest of all of us
With his recovery timeline. I'm sure he's thrilled to hear that
Hey, you know, it wasn't as severe as he probably thought when the injury actually happened against San Jose
I mean you can clearly tell he was very upset when he walked off the ice throwing his gloves down
He did not look happy. This is good news. The menace said this it's barky
He's one of the best players in the league amazing to hear good news. We just can't wait to see him on the ice again
awesome, I
Couldn't be more thrilled to hear this and I'm sure all of you are kind of feeling the same way than I am about this
now
This is where I'm gonna tell you guys
100% this is true because Jameson Olive who was one of the beat writers for the Florida Panthers. I'm not the guy
This is him saying lower body out six to eight weeks non-surgical rehab. Paul Murray's best window. I already read you the quote
I mean, this is terrific news. I'm
Thrilled with this
So the question remains now
What exactly is this?
And I'm gonna try to
Point out something that this is speculating still. I'm sure we will hear exactly what the injury is
sometime in the next
Probably few days. I would say probably when the cats come back. Maybe they say it later today
I don't know, but let's take a look at what this could possibly be. Shall we?
All right, here are the different levels of the sprains to the MCL
Right now it's looking like and which I had kind of figured and pointed out and a lot of people did say there's probably a
Grade 2 MCL. This is where you partially tear your MCL
Usually the superficial part of it
Your knee will likely be loose when it's moved by hand and you probably have intense pain and tenderness
along the inner side of your knee
The potential for grade 3 sprain isn't out of the realm of possibility in terms of what they might throw out there
But that's a severe tear complete torn
Of the superficial and deep parts knee will be very unstable and loose
Knee, you'll probably experience intense pain tenderness coming for someone to have other injuries with the knee
Especially damage to the anterior cruciate ligament if they have a grade 3 tear
There were other rumblings of other things going on with his knee as well, but I'm not gonna get into that
But right now it's looking more like this is this is the sign of a grade 2 tear
Let's keep going in terms of what is his rehab going to? Oh, excuse me time frame. Here we go
This is what I want to talk about. The reason why I think it is a grade 2 sprain is because of the timeline
It says a grade 1 minor tear can usually heal on its own time within 1 to 3 weeks grade 2
Grade 2 and grade 3 MCL tears, which are more severe need proper treatment or to heal which can include resting wearing a knee brace and
doing physical therapy
That's pretty much where we're sitting right now and here's the timeline this is the one I was looking for
Come on, here we go
There it is
So, oh, I don't know why it's not showing it. Hold on guys. Give me a second having some issues
Yeah, that's not right
Well, anyways, here you go. So now it's showing you guys a grade 2
MCL sprain is roughly 4 to 6 weeks and a grade 3 that is severe could take 6 weeks or more
Usually when you have a grade 3 tear, they will actually go and and do surgery
Because there are it's not just the MCL that is torn. There's other things that are
That's why I'm saying this kind of lines up perfectly
with a
Grade 2 sprain good news for the cats bad news good news because yes, he's still gonna miss time
Unfortunately, but one of the things I wanted to talk about is exactly what are they gonna be doing with Alexander Barkov?
Obviously, they're gonna be doing the rice regimen rest ice compression elevate. They're probably gonna put him into a brace
Obviously, they're going to be doing rehabilitation to strengthen the muscles around the knee
They're gonna let it rest. So that way hopefully it will heal on its own and to me
I think it's it's a good move by the organization
you don't want to have him miss any more time than he needs to and
From what this says to me too, is that the MRI came back cleaner than they had if they thought it was gonna come back
That's why they're saying rehabilitation is probably gonna be the best method
For for Barkov to get over this injury
however, I
Am gonna say this and I've already said this before if that's the only part of his knee that is injured
Do
Do we run a little bit of risk of just going through the rehab process and being like, okay in six to eight weeks time
He ends up coming back
How's the knee doing?
Obviously could be ten weeks. Sometimes it could be four weeks
I've researched other athletes from hockey players to football players to basketball players that have dealt with MCL sprains ones
twos and they've come back at four weeks
Between four and ten weeks generally, it really depends on how hard
These people work, you know how hard the athletes work
So we'll see what happens
Hopefully he you know, they take their time with this I don't think it's worth the risk of trying to rush him back
That's the biggest thing for me is I hope this is not
Put out there in terms of oh, well, we need to try and rush him back
I don't think that's what the Florida Panthers are doing. I think this is a
Smart move. Let's just rehab it if there's any instability in that knee when I'm around six weeks
Keep rehabbing it two weeks later eight weeks. It's almost there but not quite give him another week or two
It's okay. This team is deep enough to handle the season, especially this early on
Guys, we have such a sample size of how this team has played so far. I'm not gonna look too much into it
I know people are talking about was the kitchen trading for Brady could Chuck a good move for us. Yes
It was guys. He will come into his own. Don't worry. I
Hate that people are downing him right now after three games
Give me a break. I can guarantee you like I said, he's gonna be great tonight
I think Matthew could Chuck's gonna be great tonight. I think that first line
if if it's
Reinhardt Marchand and
Brady could Chuck if they are the actual first line tonight, and it's not gonna be Matthew Bennett and for Hagee
If that is the first line, I think they're gonna be stellar tonight
We have a good chance to have a very solid game. Shut everybody up bar
Kachuk's gonna look great. I hope that like I said marks from is in net, but it's gonna be a good one
10 p.m. Puck drop late night guys. If you can stay up try your best to do so cheer them on
I think they're gonna come out just going off and then we're home first game at home on
Saturday be a big one. Anyways guys, that's it comment down below. How do you feel about Barkov?
Do you like the fact that there's no surgery involved?
Do you think there is some risk by not having surgery and having him come back and just rehabbing it?
How sure are you about?
Hey
the rehabilitation process will work and he'll heal and be a hundred percent or is there still that risk of him coming back and having
more
severe things happen
That's a possibility. It's not out of the realm, unfortunately, but tell me what you guys think. I'm relieved
I can't wait till he comes back
But this Panthers team now has to look into do you want to bring in someone an unrestricted free agent like Tara Sanko?
Or you just stick with what you got. I think we stick
Let's ride it out. Let's see how we've done. We've got four points in our first three games
doing pretty good
four out of possible six points I
like
That's it guys
comment down below
So I found out more information and stuff and I probably won't do another video because they will probably divulge in the next 24 hours
What the injury is exactly so hang tight. I'll have stuff coming out tomorrow until then go cats
