The Sixers Forced Into an Impossible Decision...

The Sixers are being forced into a low-key impossible position
with everybody at the center position either already hurt,
injury prone, very expensive, the team capped at an apron.
It feels like there's nowhere to go with the news
that Ariel Huckport is going to miss the season.
Yet, it does seem like there are some one man's trash
is another man's treasure kind of signings out there.
And so I saw an interesting article that's going
to have me shotgunning a bunch of names and options and ideas at you.
But let's talk about how this impossible decision might
be another opportunity to see just what kind of mojo Mike Gansey's got.
What's going on, everybody?
Christian Pedersen back with another episode of Sixers Digest, the show
where Sean and I bring you daily content, all things Sixers related.
And I'm maintaining the optimism this season.
This is a it's a negative angle kind of story that we have
to talk about how Ariel Huckport is injured, severely injured.
Dembona has a foot injury.
Joel Embiid is injury prone.
so between those three there is no real clear cut like we don't have
an every single day center now
there are some other guys that can
and will step up already on the roster who can play a little bit
smaller version of that but there is still a need
for a traditional big man so i saw this article of
seven training camp battles that could help solve
the sixers backup center conundrum and it's a run
through the list of some x10
and two-way deals that are going on battle wise at other training
camps that we should all be glued to absolutely fixated
on or you should just trust that sean and
i have so little life that we are able to follow
those battles for you that's why i always say
like subscribe comment share follow
but um it made me think about how remaining two-way contract
that the sixers have available now to me feels
no longer flexible and i would have said going into
to um you know going into the preseason going
into the season going into camp whatever you
want to say having that last two-way contract available
and open was a great deal of opportunity
for us to do a little bit of wiggle room a little bit of jazz
and be like okay what does this team
really need a rebounding specialist this that we don't have
that option anymore instead we need to
go get a big man and you could say to me well what does
a two-way contract really do i think
a two-way contract right now provides us
with exactly what we need given that and i'm not gonna
knock on the studio wood i'm not gonna jinx it
and say he's healthier than he's ever been and
he's gonna play a full slate of games and beads just
and bead as of right now seems to check all
the boxes of great bodily care and management
and in a really good spot dembona his foot is a
sprain and it seems like he by the start
of the regular season will be available and getting
healthier progressively more
and more dom barlow lebron there are other guys like i said on the
roster so it's it's a weird spot of like we don't need a center
but we need a center we don't need
to the center but we need a center i don't i feel
i feel like you guys can all understand what i'm
saying there it's also a weird spot of like we have no money basically
and some of you will say
well what if we wave jabari walker
and what if we sure if we make a dramatic and drastic step but
that's one where it's like is that drastic step worth it for somebody
who defensively only need
for the amount of time to stop gap measure like
a two-way contract offer so it's an interesting
article we'll run through it all before we
do that just as always gotta say a quick thank you
to cal she for sponsoring this channel
as a reminder we are one of the favorite teams this
year to win the nba championship if you would like
to get in on those markets you can use the
code digest nba when you are signing up for cal she
and they'll hook you up with 55 and you trade
your first 25 in options okay you know like i said have
a lot of names here for you and everything
and i'm not going to go way too in depth through
this but i want to hear from you guys if any of
these stand out as names that you would like us
to get after uh the pacers uh renek mast and kiba
kianta um they might both be people
who are potentially here uh mass listed at 610 is maybe
the more traditional big i kind of like if we're going
to go for a big here um i would like to not
have us get an undersized plucky pick i would like
a if somebody out there is available on a
two-way contract we're going to take a flyer
on i would like to even knowing very little about some
of these guys in terms of like really
their overall basketball fit i like i would like to
just physically acquire somebody is huge
um staying in the central division milwaukee bucks
which an lol of we uh tonight brew being listed here i think
that was funny um but jake stevens
on an x10 could be an interesting one to watch would any
of you guys want broom back i'm assuming
not maybe that would be a hilarious ben simmons like
a mini ben simmons type of union uh james
wiseman tony bradley drew eubanks all with the knicks
um and the difference there between exhibit
nine and exhibit 10 could be explored
and there's a lot of contract minutiae that thankfully mike
and company are much smarter on than me
but it does make me feel like in all of this we're not
truly like out of options out of options that some
of these guys look this is seven teams and
each one of these teams has multiple guys that there
are going to be some options come available
here um the oklahoma city thunder obviously
with a lot of actual starters on their team who are
really good tall centers they added christopher tilly
to an exhibit 10 contract so christophe
tilly so he could be an interesting guy
to keep an eye on should he become available
looking over at the phoenix suns um duop wreath
is a two-way deal uh they could have
some actual nba experience with as they mentioned here i think
that for me in all of this i kind of
let's let's go cheap let's go big and let's go young
and physical i want guys with probably as
little mileage um nate biddle at the university of oregon product
who's with the toronto rafters
right now and another exhibit 10 deal
um yeah i i don't know how much scoring really matters for me
on this position um and again you can pause any
of this if you really want to dive into the names
i don't need to spend a lifetime going through every single one
of these and if you want to
check out this full article i always encourage anybody
and everybody to read what we take
snippets of here um jonas i do out of the utah jazz
um he'd be the this is the last name that
gets brought up so yeah it's an impossible decision
because you sign huck party to this
great deal and then you lose him
and you're going to replace him with somebody's x you know exhibit
10 cast away kind of like it's not a great thing like oh
and nobody's going to let go of some
future hall of fame but it's a situation where you
do need to make a move because it's irresponsible
bull of mike gansey to just be like okay as much
as i want to be a dime a dem bonus number one
podcaster um i you're not gonna just
be like we're gonna only play with 13 guys on the roster
and just tell a dem boner to man the hell up
and send him beat out for more games and just like
you've got to sign somebody there
and you've got to bring somebody up and so it's going to be a
really interesting test to see what the front office does
with this little uh this little bit
of early season adverse uh
or a little bit of a little bit of uh i don't want to say a challenge
i don't want to say uh we'll just call it we'll call it
a little call it a little early season
blip uh for them to come up with to see
to see what they can get through so let me know what
you think on all these names
or if there's anyone else that you think the sixers should go after for
that last two-way spot to help shore up
the center position until next time like subscribe comment
