A storm that's moving through Southern California on Easter weekend could produce heavy rain, hail and snow. Here's a look at the timing of the storm.
Let's go ahead and check in with Shayla Girard, who is tracking all of the weather out there.
The snow, the rain, the wind, all of it.
You said it.
Rain, snow, wind, we've got it all.
Even hail out there today.
Take a look at the radar this afternoon.
We are talking about quite an impressive storm system this late in the season, really impacting
much of the West Coast.
And you can see all of that thunderstorm activity up in the Bay Area, the Central Valley.
Not seeing as much of it right now in Southern California, but all of that could change over
the course of the evening.
Light scattered showers, that's the name of the game for most of us.
Thousand Oaks, even into Oxnard, seeing some more moderate pockets of rainfall there.
As we head into the I-5, Santa Clarita, really light shower activity for you.
And then look at this.
Big Bear Lake, still continuing to see that mountain snow falling, and that's going to
linger into the evening hours, even into your Easter Sunday as well.
Farther south, more dry for you, Lakeland Village.
Even into Riverside, you're in the clear, but still seeing these light showers moving
through Hemet this afternoon.
And then look at this.
Santa Ana, Newport, you're getting a break from that rain.
Lake Compton, even into Long Beach, continuing to see the light to moderate rainfall for
you.
Our Malibu SkyCam, not much to see.
That cloud cover just sitting over the camera.
Temperature is very cool for you too.
You're in the upper 40s and still seeing those wind speeds, 14 miles per hour.
So we have a little bit of everything with the storm.
We have rain, we have thunderstorm activities, we are under a flood watch, as you can see,
really for all of Southern California.
Even though on-off showers are going to be the name of the game, some of those showers
could produce some heavier downpours tonight into tomorrow.
That's why we're talking about that flood watch.
And higher elevations, keeping a close eye on this.
This winter storm warning through tomorrow evening.
So still talking about that snowfall.
You saw the video just moments ago and that blowing snow.
Really dangerous conditions on the roadways for higher elevations.
All right, temps.
We are still well below average.
It is chilly out there.
50s for most of you.
Chino Hills coming in 51 degrees.
Fullerton 55.
L.A. a little bit warmer, 56, if you want to call 56 warm.
All of this, the rain, the snow, the wind, it is thanks to this closed low-pressure system
we are seeing just sitting over the West Coast.
You can see all of that moisture continuing to wrap around counterclockwise.
As we head into tonight, into your Easter Sunday, that moisture sticks around, which
for us means those on-off again scattered showers we've been seeing.
So Saturday night, the light rain continues for many of us.
We will see some dry pockets out there.
Higher elevations, we're talking about that chance to continue to see snow.
As we head into your Sunday morning, so Easter Sunday, a lot of folks heading out to church,
we will see pockets of sunshine out there.
So there will be clear moments, but also those on-and-off showers continue as we head into
the afternoon, chances for thunderstorms as well.
So some areas even going to see some more moderate pockets of rainfall.
So will there be a chance to head out there and hide those Easter eggs?
Yes, there will be some sun in the mix, but it might not last long, unfortunately.
All right, lows tonight.
Going to be a chilly one out there, 40s and 50s for most of you.
Wrightwood dipping into the upper 20s, Riverside 47.
And then tomorrow, again, well below average.
We will see some sunshine in the mix, 50s and 60s for you with those scattered showers
still lingering on-off again.
You get the picture.
56 for you in Thousand Oaks.
Look at this warm-up, though.
So L.A., Orange County, tomorrow talking a chance for some thunderstorms and hail, temps
only making it to the low 60s.
By Monday, could still see a stray shower here or there, but we start to dry out.
Upper 60s for you.
By Tuesday, we are in the mid-70s.
And by end of week, really nice conditions for you before once again, just in time for
next weekend, we are talking about another storm rolling in.
Valleys, Inland Empire, even a bigger warm-up for you.
Upper 50s tomorrow, 60s on Monday, 70s on Tuesday, and flirting with the 80s on Wednesday.
Upper 70s for you.
Beaches, nice and cool by the coast, that chances to see thunderstorms and even hail
a little bit higher for the coastline.
Surf anywhere from 4 to 7 feet.
In the mountains, we are once again talking about mountain snow tomorrow, looking right
now like it'll stick to about 5,000 feet.
Showers lingering for you through Monday, and then nice and breezy for you for the rest
of the week.
Mainly in the deserts, shower chances tomorrow, of course, partly cloudy skies you clear out
earlier on Monday, and then in the 70s through about midweek before another storm system
moves in.
So, Michelle, I'm seeing a pattern.
Every weekend, you and I get to sit here and talk about rain.
Like DJ Khaled would say, another one, right?
All right, Shayla, thank you.
Thank you.
