Ladies and gentlemen, Kevin McHouston. It started raining. It could be raining like really hard.
Instead it's just like drizzling. It's not bad yet. Yet. Yet. So we are somewhere
in the mountains, hills, whatever you want to call it, of southeastern Tennessee.
Got in semi-late last night, not really, eight-ish. Kevin had found this spot here and he's got to
jet out and do some business here in the morning. His family doesn't live too far from here
and then we're going to reconnect probably later today or tomorrow. How long have you all been up
here? We've been on the trail since Monday, so what's it been? Four days. Yeah, it's been four days.
I thought I talked to you the other day and you're like, yeah we've been out for like a month.
Oh no, it was off and on there for a bit. This is so this is our second
run here in the Tennessee area. So yeah, it's been awesome. Your shoes? I left them out in the rain.
Is that all right? I know, I'm just kidding. You left them out in the rain. Well, you didn't leave
them out in the rain. You just left them out to be rained on, but I put them right here. Right here.
Yeah, they're dry. They're bone dry. Can you hand them to me? Yeah. So that I can put them on.
Right now? Yes. All right. Camped with these sleeping bags in a long time, mostly because
they're super big. You can see how much how big they are and also because they're really warm
and I haven't needed them. What are you hunting?
So apparently it's bear hunting season and uh
they got these tiny little dogs hunking hunting big old bears.
He came over here and he took he took a leak right here and took a dump right there.
I didn't see anything happening. Maybe oh he's he's there's a there was a nervous dump.
Do you remember that one time I put my one of my old rooftop tents away wet?
Literally every time I put away a tent wet I like have a flashback.
Uh it should be good. I'm going to be camping tonight and tomorrow night. Weather's supposed
to be improving throughout the day and even sunny tomorrow. So but mental note,
irregardless, make sure you try out the tent.
So like you stay right here and I go down you go up and then when I go up you go down.
Yeah that looks super cool.
All right we'll see you guys uh tomorrow morning. All right.
Bye. We'll see you on the tv. We got the mirror.
Which camera am I on? Which people am I talking to?
They're gonna go take care of some of that stuff. They've been out for a couple of days like uh like
he said earlier and um then we're gonna meet up with them tomorrow morning. So I'm actually really
excited because we're gonna be riding some of the trails. Kind of mapped out some stuff.
Uh not really sure where we're going. Well I have a general idea where we're going.
Don't really know how we're going to get there which is kind of part of the part of the fun.
Probably noticed but I don't know what I did. I screwed up some setting on the mic
and uh the audio is all blown out. So I'm sorry. Just uh bear with me. We finally hit dirt.
So whenever I'm doing shots like that um you know you can start with...
Glad I made it through that one.
Holy crap guys. I was just thinking about this trail. Do you remember a few years back? I think
was in 17 in the fall of 2017. We were going to Overland Expo East. It might have even been
my very first Overland Expo East event and with Jeff uh we were we were with him on that trip.
This is the very trail. I thought I saw some things that looked familiar but I was just thinking about
this. Let me show you. So there's like a rock ledge. So on that trip I walked around on this
but I did. It's like rock shelfy. Do you see that?
Anyway I'm quite thrilled to be here to be honest. Quite thrilled.
I'm super excited to be up here. The waterfall is going to be down here towards the end.
I can hear it. Can you hear it? So we're going down here to Coker Creek Falls. Something like that.
Haven't been down here. We don't want to stray too far away from the vehicle because there's
bear hunting going on. Actually I saw some bear hunting guys back there.
They're orange hats and they're bear hunting dogs. I don't know why I'm talking like that.
I'm super excited to be up here. Super super excited to be up here. It's so pretty.
I mean golly. She thinks all dogs are adorable though by the way for the record which is not
all bad. Every single dog to me is adorable. Look at this. Look at this pretty log Evelyn.
See all the moss on it? Yeah. Oh my gosh. At Expo West whenever I saw dogs I would not leave them alone.
I can hear it. It's over here. All right now listen. These rocks
these rocks might be slippery so be careful when you're walking on them okay.
Do you want to go? Yeah. I think you want to walk down a little further. There's a
there's a trail that goes up up to the left. What?
Doesn't get any more picturesque does it? It's amazing. Isn't this amazing?
Do you think it's um do you think it's like a bear stand or something?
I'm actually not sure that it goes any deeper than right there.
Okay so what? She's recording me recording talking to you guys.
You can see where we are here. We're at Coker Creek Falls hike. Highly recommended. Very amazing.
So we have let's see here. We started way up there in the Indian Boundary Overflow
campground and we went all the way down there yada yada yada and all the way down and this
is where we've made it right here. So we still have to go all the way following this blue line
all the way kind of down to like right here. So we're going to Lake
Kanesaga campground or across the way over here to this one. Jack's River Fields campground.
Quick note on some of these shots. So whenever I do these you can. So I was just kind of
annotating notes for editing purposes. At this point in time of the day we're really
trying to just make our way down to the camp. We had a lot of ground to cover that day
and the campsite we had picked was the campsite we were planning on meeting up with
in which we were meeting up with Kevin, Sarah, and Caroline. And we weren't sure if they were
coming that night or if they were going to come the next morning but we needed to make it to where
they were expecting to find us. And it was kind of a lot of ground to cover but
that's just kind of how it goes sometimes.
Not much for cooking. You probably know this. Maybe you remember this. Anyway Evelyn and I
stopped at some local barbecue place in Ocoee. It was actually amazing. It's kind of a hole in
wall place. Like a local's favorite kind of thing. It was amazing. We've been trying to make good time
because it turns out it was like 50 miles or 30 miles or something down to wherever we were trying
to go. Did a lot of highway travel and now we're kind of back off road here. You can't really see
very well. I don't know how far we are from where we're going to try and camp tonight. Maybe 45
minutes to an hour. Hopefully we can find a spot there because that's where we're supposed to meet
up with Kevin and Sarah tomorrow morning. And then in tomorrow's video we'll have Kevin, Sarah, and
Caroline. Which Evelyn will be happy about that because she's been a little bored. But that's okay.
We're gonna meander through the woods here and make camp.
Kamisaga. Saga. Kamisagaba. Something like that. Anyway the main campground was closed. The overflow
was open. Made it to camp. Feels like we're in a cloud. It's like so foggy out and we're trying to
get a campfire going. It's not working but we're gonna keep trying for a little bit longer and
then we're just gonna go to bed I guess. Got nothing else to do. Bathroom right across the camp.
That's pretty awesome. See you guys in the morning.
As you can see it's quite, I mean, quite foggy and it's almost literally freezing.
