Why I Quit Youtube

I try to work out most mornings, although as of this recording, I don't know, I probably
hadn't worked out in four weeks.
My routine starts with pushups and no, I'm not really doing anything fancy here.
My wrists don't really like to bend like that anymore, so this is the best way for me to
do it.
Then I move on to crunches, leg ups or leg raises, and then I do pull-ups to the best
of my ability.
We don't normally get to open all the doors like this, but fall in Orlando is quite pleasant.
And this is our new house.
We bought it and moved in earlier this year because we wanted more space.
This room used to be a four-car garage, but the previous owner finished it out, added
sliding glass doors, carpet, you know, drywall, AC, all that.
And now it's affectionately known as, to us, as the rec room, short for recreation.
And that's my routine, pushups, sit-ups, crunches, leg ups, and pull-ups.
And then I do it all over again.
I grew a beard only one other time before.
And for years, I've been wanting to grow another beard, but I haven't been able to get past
the itchy phase.
Is it in focus?
It's not in focus, is it?
It always feels so good, so crispy, so nice and so fresh and clean.
There's almost nothing that feels better than having a fresh, fresh cut.
So, where have I been?
Well, I feel like I've told the story a hundred times.
Let's see if I can summarize it real quickly for you.
2020 was the year that everybody was anxious for it to end.
Need I say more?
Let's see here, we had a couple of bumps in the road with work, business, et cetera.
Didn't everybody, mostly, many people.
Let's see here.
Bounced back better than ever.
Things are amazingly fantastic right now.
In the middle of it all, we decided we didn't like Utah, really had some things that we
needed to be in the middle of with work, so we decided to make the trek back to Florida.
And the reality was, we weren't real happy in Utah anyway.
Frankly, it's too cold down up there, too cold, too cold up there.
But our house in Florida was significantly smaller than the house that we were living
in than our house that we owned in Utah.
And so, when we moved back to Florida and our old house, it was, we never sold it.
We felt like we were packed in there like a can of sardines.
And we immediately began, not immediately, shortly thereafter, we were kind of like,
we really, really need more space.
And so we started looking around and one of the things that we had really, really wanted
was room to have like a homestead where we could have chickens and goats and cows and
just all kinds of stuff, things that we really wanted to kind of have.
And there wasn't like any kind of rural areas up in the panhandle where we were living that
we really liked.
So we figured we'd try Central Florida.
So here we are.
We bought 11 acres here.
And a house that was three times the size of our Northwest Florida house.
The beautiful thing about real estate is that if you buy, usually you see appreciation over
the short term, semi-long term.
And over the five years that we owned the home, we saw enough appreciation to cash out
of there, put a little money in our pocket and be able to buy this much land and a much
bigger house in a rural area.
So super, super thankful for that.
So you can see the orange marker right there and goes back over there.
And then there's another one right over here, right there.
You can see right there.
And then the one over there and over there.
Right now I'm technically in my neighbor's, on my neighbor's property.
But once I step over here on this side, now I'm in mine.
I've got this all the way down.
There's a street over there and a lake across the street, which I don't have access to the
lake directly.
Maybe someday we'll buy a lot over there, but that's another story.
All of this is mine.
You can see the house a little bit kind of through there.
All of this is mine.
All of this, all the way up, this, this, this, this, this, these, this, this, and this.
So I'm still working on what's going to go where, but four weeks from this recording,
I've got 15 baby chicks coming.
And so trying to figure out where we're going to have everything.
I'm thinking chicken coop arrangement thing over there.
I got to clean all this up.
This is, this is another story.
We rented a big excavator and I've actually got a, I got a vlog about that coming, but
I got to flatten all this stuff out, root rake, flatten it all out and get it ready.
And I'm thinking, I'm thinking four greenhouses right around here.
You can get these Harbor Freight ones from, or these 10 by 12s from Harbor Freight.
And I was thinking four of those with aquaponics set up.
That's kind of what I'm thinking, tilapia and all that.
I'm going to build a little solar shed out here to provide power for it.
So I was thinking about maybe a seven or eight foot shed, four by four foot, and just building
it straight up.
Probably put it on skids so that I can move it if I need to.
Anyway, that would provide power to have that maybe in the middle and then the greenhouses
around it.
I haven't fully decided, but the idea is to have all of the vegetables and stuff like
that growing in the aquaponics setup and then utilize all this space.
I got to run water from the well pump back, which I'm working on.
I'm not currently working on.
I'm working in, in here.
And then I was thinking about this area over here to have maybe like a, like an orchard
grove kind of thing, you know, maybe have some grapevines.
I didn't get that.
Could you try again?
No, I'm not talking to you.
Okay.
Maybe some grapevines.
I would like to have some pear trees, some other fruit trees.
Would like to have a couple of rows of blueberries, blueberry plants and stuff like that.
Maybe have some bees back over here and then save some of this space and over in the, in
the land next door once I get those piles burned off for pasture land.
I like the idea of having a cow or a few, possibly goats, not totally committed to it
long term yet.
Just kind of like the sound of it at the moment.
So maybe that's a couple of years down the road.
We're not going to get into a hurry on that.
So why did I quit YouTube?
You know, with everything going on last year, I just couldn't spend the time filming, editing,
talking to you guys.
I just, it wasn't a top priority.
And I know you guys understand that, but I've missed it.
I've missed it and I've missed, I've missed you guys.
I feel like you guys have always been there for me and I really appreciate that.
So what are we doing here?
Well, I'll be honest with you.
I think we're going to shift some of the content because as it stands, I just went on a camping
trip last week with Kevin, Sarah and Caroline, you know, Lifestyle Overland.
And I filmed that trip.
That'll be in a vlog in the future.
Although fair warning, I messed up the audio settings.
You'll see what I mean.
But I had a blast and I want to do trips and I've got some other kind of things like rumbling
around in my brain, but I'm going to shift the content a little bit from being all trip
based to also incorporating some of the content, some content from, from this, from our homesteading
lifestyle.
And honestly, it should be a pretty interesting journey because just like when I was getting
started into overlanding and, you know, fixing up my forerunner, I have absolutely no idea
what I'm doing here.
I've already embarked on like home renovation repair projects that, like I said, I had no
clue how to do that.
Rented an excavator, a giant one that I probably had no business renting and learned how to
drive that and clear a bunch of land along with the help of a good friend.
You know, I'm going to be building sheds and greenhouses and figuring out aquaponics and
growing stuff, you know, so it should be a, it should be a pretty, should be a pretty
interesting journey.
So the next several videos after this are probably going to be, I'm going to just crank
out the rest of the content I had from Overland Expo West and Overland Expo East.
It's not going to be fancy edits with vlog style and music and all that fancy stuff.
It's going to be kind of short and sweet, maybe not even short.
The edits are going to be simple.
Some of them will be a little bit longer, four and 15, 20 minutes, but I've got a few
walkarounds and a few like products and stuff like that that were interesting to me.
So maybe they're interesting to you.
If they're not, just move on and stay tuned for the next stuff for further, for the additional,
for more content coming out soon after that.
I will still do some trip videos, still do some photography and stuff like that and share
some of that stuff on the Instagram.
Going to talk about my tractor.
I bought a tractor, not the smallest, but certainly not the biggest.
It's a Kubota, about 39 horsepower.
So it's pretty decent, you know, kind of wishing I'd bought something a little bigger though.
So yeah, I don't know if you're interested or not, but I'm going to bring you along on
this little journey of ours as we try to figure out some of the stuff here on this little
homestead farm.
I don't know why I have the inclination to talk like with a country accent.
Whenever I start talking about homesteading and farming and all that, I don't know why
I do that.
Sorry.
We live really close to like two really small airports, so there's always planes flying
over.
So yeah, that's, that's pretty much it.
See you in the next video.
