We have multiple Detroit Red Wings updates
to go over today as they have made multiple
roster moves ahead of their next game.
And we have multiple new trade updates on,
yes, Simon Edvinson and Dylan Larkin.
Yes, a trade update with Simon Edvinson
and the latest from multiple NHL insiders on what
the current contract negotiation looks like with Simon Edvinson.
We're going to break down all of these new updates
and much more, including, yes, they
play tonight in a big matchup against the Seattle Kraken
and we're going to break that all down
and much more in this episode of Red Wings Digest
but guys before we jump into all of that we have
a quick reminder to hit that subscribe button we've noticed
that a large percentage of you guys
who watch these videos are not subscribed to the channel
so if you want to stay up to date with
everything that's happening with the Red Wings
we're giving you guys daily updates on everything
that's happening with the team from post-game reactions
to game previews to trade updates to
what's happening with the contract holdouts
and all of that all the way to how pissed off fans
are with Chris Ilitch so make sure you
are subscribed to the channel now first order of
business today the Red Wings have made multiple roster moves
so they have activated both Chase
Stillman and Carter Bear off of the IR
because they were both injured in pre-season so they
both come off and they're both assigned
to the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL so they're going
to get finally into some action i'm very excited actually
to see Carter Bear get into his first
pro hockey action as well obviously a great
and successful season for him mark i don't know if
you have any thoughts on that but before we get
to your thoughts i do have to get to something a
little bit bigger which
is the Simon Edvinson trade saga whatever you want to call it at this
point the fact that they're you know looking
at different options from now and they do want to
sign him they don't want to sign him i don't know Friedman has
a weird report going on today but
let's get into it okay so Simon Edvinson now
is being linked to the Boston Bruins from Pierre
So Boston is amongst a long list of teams
that have shown interest in Simon Edvinsson and
not just that I have heard from Elliott Friedman
this morning new episode of 32 Thoughts that
they are basically willing to go any contract length
with Simon Edvinsson they've talked
different you know contract lengths they don't want it
to be five years even though they actually
offered him that at one point according to some reports
because they don't want him and Seider to
be up in the same year so if that's the case it is a matter of money
then isn't it and that falls
back on Chris Elliott once again it's sickening
and listen i'm dying with the flu and still get more
sick just looking at the reports coming out
of Detroit with everything happening again looking
at Carterberry very quickly it's going to be fun
to watch that kid he's electric if you haven't
watched his WHL highlights you don't need
to because he's going to show that off at the AHL
level but in Edvinsson what we're seeing right now
is just greed coming from this ownership again
a guy that put it on the line came to camp
and showed up when if he got hurt there is that could
have ended his career he might have never got
a big contract again he legitimately risked himself
to get into this lineup and wanting to make
a good impression how do they repay him they're still
lowballing him from the offers
that we've seen about five million dollars earlier this summer
last year whatever it was and now with teams starting
to pick up exactly what the Red Wings
don't want to do they're starting
to make offers showing interest i don't even think it's a matter
of time I genuinely could see Edmonton
and his camp say hey listen we want to be traded not that
we've shown interest in maybe going
to a new team it genuinely feels at this point
now with other teams showing interest
if they get into that agency there's a world where
Edmonton demands hey I will not sign here ship me out
and I want to be gone next week well as we
heard a week ago from Elliot Friedman
that is actually the case I don't know if it's that
is true at this point
but I think that we are very close to hey ship me out of here I'm done
I want to play before December 1st
because if he doesn't sign a contract with someone before
December 1st of this year he's going to lose the entire season
and there's no way that him and his
agent are going to let that happen right he's either going
to get traded or he's going to sign
with the Red Wings and we'll see what
the the contract looks like again I think this ends in
a trade at this point that's just my prediction I've
been saying it for you know two weeks at
this point but um obviously for the betterment
of this team they should absolutely sign him there
there should be a contract uh getting done here now
at least 10 teams have called on Simon Edvinsson
I would imagine of course the Boston Bruins being
linked there I'd imagine one is the Toronto Maple
Leafs, that's one of the worst kept secrets of all time
at this point there's a couple other teams
involved in that as well. Detroit's preference
remains to sign him to a new
contract, to get the contract done. Again, I think it's a matter
of money at this point. Again, that falls
back on, guess who, Chris Ilitch, which
as more time goes on, as more reports
come out about everything, about the GM search
about why certain guys are fired
why certain trades and signings don't happen
everyone is starting to realize
well, maybe Dylan Larkin and Steve Yzerman
are not that bad after all, because it is
falling all on ownership at this point
and term flexibility has not
resolved. The salary gap
that both of them are talking about it sounds like
the Red Wings are far far far too low now
we've heard that Edvinsson probably wants 11
or 12 right maybe you don't quite go there but it sounds
like the Red Wings are not budging off of like eight eight
and a half at this point which if
you're signing long term
for Edvinsson doesn't really make much sense anyway we have a couple
other updates to get to as well
so on Dylan Larkin there's no real um you know resolution at this
point he's just kind of showing up and playing games
and i think it's become pretty apparent
that you know it's going to be at some point time
to move on here right like you got to get a
contract or sorry a trade done i'm thinking of Simon Evans
and stuff but you have to get a trade
done here now we've heard that they want basically
an apples for apples trade right that's not going
to happen with any contending team
and any contending team is looking for Dylan Larkin
like you're not trading Dylan Larkin
to a rebuilding team right you're trading him to a
contending team and they're not going to trade you apples
for apples right so this organization
continues to prove that they have no idea what they're doing
or what they want with that now
Kevin Allen reported that Detroit's scouting staff
was at the Minnesota Wild's games this week so
they're looking at that that's
also a really bad kept secret even from the summer we know that if
there was a most likely outcome here in terms of a trade
and destination it is the Minnesota Wild
with Dylan Larkin we've also heard that he's expanded
his list from three during the summer
to eight to ten teams so kind of like
the Connor Hellebuyck situation where he's more open to certain
destinations we've also heard that if Montreal
and Edmonton were were on that list it would be
done already is what we've heard as well
but Mark do you have any thoughts on this because
ultimately he's playing well
but uh i think at some point you look you probably look for a trade
here right and you probably have to reel back
a little bit on what uh you're looking for in terms
of return i'm not saying get fleeced here
but i'm saying nobody's going to trade you their first
line center for Dylan Larkin that that just doesn't exist
in the league and i think at the
end of the day is looking at this team
if we've seen Sean Horakoff come out earlier this week or
at some point recently and say hey we made a trade
or we made a signing at least he was doing
something but now you have two massive things
that are not being done and you're genuinely
wondering if anyone's even working in that office
or if that interim tag was just kind of like a
little slap just to say here you go you've
been with the organization for a bit don't need to
show up to work today because you might as well
not because nothing's getting damn done in this
organization but going to Larkin this is very interesting
because Minnesota makes the most
sense of course the Florida Panthers names popped up with Barkov
and Mrazek going down both guys
at least aren't going to miss a ton
of time they got good clearance on their injuries so it seems
like maybe that falls out of the order again like you said Montreal
and the Oilers are two teams that
would have made this already if he was willing to go there
but I think teams like Utah are soon
going to start popping up I'm sure that's a team
as well that would have it done if he was willing
to go there and I think it's truly going to come down
to maybe Larkin just expanding the list by
one or two more teams maybe that's all it takes
the Boston Bruins a team like that Pavel Zacha's
name constantly pops up maybe that makes sense
in a swap of course you're getting more coming back
this way but there is it's an ongoing thing
and I genuinely don't even know if it's to blame Larkin
for having to shorten the list
or if it's just incompetence coming from ownership and
management where they genuinely think hey
this guy's value is this we're not coming down no
matter what part of the season or what part
of the season we're in we want that one seat back for
Dylan Larkin and I think that's good
to a degree you want to stay firm on on things like that
sometimes but at the end of the day like we know
the situation that's here again i'm not saying to
bend and you're asking a trade right but uh
or what i'm trying to say is you can still get a
good return out there that does include some futures
but you have to go that way right you
have to go and open yourself up to that flexibility
in terms of trade return instead of hey anyone
that we're trading him to please give us
your first line center like that really wouldn't exist
on Utah by the way because you bring up Utah i think
that's interesting Utah was looking for a
center in the offseason apparently they were kicking tires
and then one guy added them to
his trade list and that was Vincent Trocheck
and they traded for him so they were looking for
center help and uh i'm not so sure that that's
the case anymore now the Red Wings one thing with
Dylan Larkin is he's still a good player now
as you can see here they're not uh trending in a good
way right now in terms of the Atlantic Division last place right now
with two points right behind
the Montreal Canadiens which is pretty shocking out
of the gate as well but um Dylan Larkin has
still been playing quite well now they face off tonight
at home against the Seattle Kraken so
that's going to be a big matchup this is what
they currently look like right now there's a lot
of interesting lineup decisions going
on right now we don't know exactly what's going on with
the fourth line there have been some injuries
so far this season to players Casper right and some
kind of vague uh you know timelines as well
this is kind of what Seattle looks like heading into
tonight's game as well in terms of their lineup
and what everything's looking like heading into
the game now Larkin in his career against Seattle
not horrible they don't always you know play each
other that often Seattle is also a newer team
in the league compared to when Dylan Larkin came into
the league but i am expecting uh another pretty big game
from him right i did like in his debut
the game that we saw from him
so i'm expecting another big game from him he was able to turn
those boos into cheers
and then again i think most of the fan bases was just showing their
frustration earlier in the season in you know uh the arena
but at the same time a lot of people
realize this falls back especially after
the LinkedIn post from Chris Ilitch that this does
fall back on ownership so Mark any final thoughts before
the game tonight uh because you know
Seattle's coming in feeling pretty good about themselves as well
but uh including Jordan
Everly but um big game for the Red Wings again tonight
if they have any hope of staying in this
Atlantic Division especially you know coming out
of the gate hot like the Atlantic Division is
going to be a gauntlet all season
but again no resolution on Simon Edvinsson no resolution on
Dylan Larkin it's it's starting to get
to a point where you're like the team's not performing you
have no idea what you're doing what are we doing here i want
to give credit to Dylan Larkin because
it could be the similar situation where we're
seeing Connor Hellebuyck not report to camp he's
suspended not playing games at least Dylan Larkin showed
his face at that season opener and of course
wasn't the greatest welcoming for the former captain
when he entered that arena with the fans
but this is a guy that showed up has played
a game played good in that game got scrappy in that game
he's still putting his body on the line
for this franchise again don't love the trade request don't
love the fact that he's not expanding the list
but it could always be worse Connor Hellebuyck is
legitimately sitting home eating chips
and losing money as the Jets are losing games but at the end
of the day something has to give
and i think it's generally a domino effect one thing happens if
that's a DeBrincat an Edvinsson signing
or maybe a Dylan Larkin trade I think it starts the
traction with Detroit but it's a matter
of if that even happens at this point and if they even get to
trade deadline with any of this done yeah
and uh last thing here before the game tonight let us
know in the comments actually who you think is going
to win score predictions all that fun stuff
in the comments below uh the Red Wings come
in with a power play that is about middle of the
pack in the league penalty kill absolutely atrocious
so those are things that they need to
get under control as well
but guys let us know how you feel in the comments below a lot going on
with the Red Wings over the last little while
or maybe not a lot actually because there's no action
there's no actionables being done
but let us know how you feel in the comments below we'll see you
for another video tomorrow
