After a 60 win season
and the national media doubting the Detroit Pistons they head into
game one tomorrow versus the Boston Celtics
with not only a vengeance after being knocked
in the second round looking to start the season hot
but we're going to dive into everything you
need to know on key details key matchups
and exactly why the Detroit Pistons are going to
head into this game and shock quite a few people.
We're going to break down everything you need to

into where we finally get NBA regular season action coming at us
tomorrow as the Detroit Pistons are hosting
the Boston Celtics to open up the 2026-2027 season
now looking at this there's a lot of key matchups
and a lot of new faces for the Detroit Pistons
that we're going to dive into but the one
that everyone knows is going to be the star and the
shining factor in success for Detroit this year
is none other than Cade Cunningham now looking at
Cade over stretch games versus
the Boston Celtics some very good games 42 points 8 rebounds and 5
assists but the biggest thing with Cade Cunningham
and in 25-26 was the back-to-back 14 and 10 assist
game where Cade was absolutely in his bag now looking at Cade

bit but of course Jalen Brown was an incredible defender

is going to head into this game after missing
some time last season due to injuries looking

and how they match up with the bigs now the biggest thing is of course
going into this game JB Bickerstaff spoke on both
of his bigs both of them are really good interior
passers now we've seen a bit of Jalen Duren
and a slightly bit of ball handling and passing coming
through the preseason something Jalen Duren does
and has worked on now versus the Boston Celtics
notoriously when looking at the eight games last year did struggle
a bit when it came to his
passing overall rebounding and points all dropping from 7.5
and 0.8 but Jalen Duren coming into the
season and the biggest thing looking at the numbers
and the dominant field goal percentage
last year even in the game with 18-9-1 Jalen Duren shot 66.7%
a steal with only one turnover
this is a big that's coming in with a vengeance after
a way too long stretched out process on
getting his contract watching him work
on his post-up game cooking Rudy Gobert it's not even
the word I wanted to use but John Collins is going to add even more
which is another reliable
shooter that we've seen Tobias Harris kind of fill that role last year
which listen I love Toby you
can't replace him but John Collins is going to add quite a bit
and not take away from Jalen
Duren's strengths now looking at John Collins
and the improvement when playing the Boston Celtics
jumping almost three points per game rebounding drops a bit
but hey Jalen Duren's one of the best
rebounders in the entire NBA
and looking at the field goal percentage dropping down to 49.5 percent
this number is going to continue to rise
because you have the league's best playmaker next to him
in Cade Cunningham as well this is going
to be a front court that I truly think is going to feast
versus Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown this is going
to be John Collins helping the spacing is going to cook
the Boston Celtics can Duren punish switches
and find cutters can Detroit control the defensive
of glass yes yes and yes this is going to be a huge watching point
and a big point of this team
going into of course this next game
but it's not just Cade Cunningham it's not just the front court
a Sarah Thompson and what he brings what we've seen out
of a Sarah Thompson this past preseason
is not only a young wing that's slowly working
into being a secondary ball handler with this
team or a backup ball handler when Cade's off the floor
but the mid-range game and Bickerstaff
spoke today you can expect them to shoot a bunch of threes
and try to turn you over now with the
Celtics of course their run
and gun play style Asara Thompson's going to be awesome I cannot
wait to see him shut down Jayson Tatum
and control the game in that aspect but again falling back to
Asara Thompson his offensive game is going
to be something that's a must watch heading into the
year now versus Boston we can see Asara's game
7-7-2 7-6-0 8-8-2 someone that flirts with the
triple-double almost every single game including
the first game versus Boston 21-12-3 this is
going to be a player that I think is going
to be the closest on the roster to a triple-double
which sounds insane to say

Sarah Thompson is another guy I'm excited I want
to see the confidence that he continues to push
and bring up during the preseason I understand I'm hyping
this team up quite a bit but watching
the small details of a star's mid-range game
the confidence how he's been handling the ball and
as its overall swagger within this roster
this is going to be again must watch basketball now
looking at the Pistons and of course heading
in they want to keep up of course the steals per
game the field goal percentage the points
the rebounding everything needs to tend to trend up
but this is a team that's a defensive nightmare
for almost anyone that matches up to them and
Assara's two-way assignment is contesting without gifting fouls now
of course Boston's going to want
to get Assara Thompson out of this game as quick as they can
which it's not going to happen but

into a game where it's game one yes i understand
you still have 81 other games going forward you have new faces within
this roster you brought in
shooters that's going to solidify
and make it easier for this offense to run Javante Green's
back you added Torian Prince, Isaiah Joe, Kevin
Harter's back, Abu Kakori, does he start to get
burned he's starting to make a lot of hard decisions
for JB Bickerstaff and that coaching
