Now this is something we've talked about a couple different times on the channel And it's something we'll probably continuously talk about until JPJ is either traded or the trade deadline has passed one of the two But now it is more Important than ever that this is brought up just because of the way the Cowboys injuries are in the secondary This is what their secondary looks like after injuries with their on blam Kaelin Carson I'm your speed Marquise Bell Elijah Clark and Caleb downs They got to get somebody in here, and they got to do it really really quick. Is a fantastic athlete I think there's nothing that we can sit here and say that would demote what he has been able to do as a Pittsburgh Steeler over his four years and of course right now the big question is well, he hasn't played well It's not exactly because he's not healthy In fact, they Steelers have a Thursday night football game two days from now against the Browns and he was a full participant in Monday's practice the reason he's been held out is because of personal reason because of Not wanting to be there because he's not gotten a contract extension and worrying about you know What the future might hold for him, which is I mean fair enough. He wants to get a contract done He feels as though that he is worth Christian Gonzalez Devon Witherspoon money. They're not paying him that they're not Even getting close to that in series. I think 30 million dollars is a good amount for him That's at least the thought process there Which is a lot and I think that's something that just has to be considered when we talked about the Dallas Cowboys But what exactly would a trade be would also be a conversation right now? We're getting reports and again Ricky scoops is a guy who we don't know He seems to have some good intel but just out of here the Detroit Times wanted to put it on here So I'm gonna put it on there not gonna say it's true or not But supposedly the asking price for a cornerback Joey Porter jr. Is reportedly a second round pick now where he had left Twitter He's on back. Now. I have to believe this is a pretty valid guy But look it we can't take this as a full reports that gives a grain of salt taking but that being said we do know The Cowboys are actively interested not just from Adam Schefter, but also Jerry Jones himself Now Jerry always goes on 105.3 the fan on usually Tuesdays and talking about the previous week's game Obviously getting ready for the next week with injury reports coming tomorrow And he had some interesting comments today on the trade reports in the trade deadline area So he said this Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said there are conversations going on right now on potentially upgrading their roster now He wouldn't specifically comment on Steelers cornerback Joey Porter jr. To avoid tampering which makes sense He's not gonna say. Oh, yeah, we're going after this guy when maybe they're not me They are it's just something that as an owner and slash GM more importantly you can't make comments on that So all this to be said This is going to be an interesting point for the Cowboys to look at and see what exactly They could do now the big question that you're put in here is what a second round pick be worth it Would you want to go out there and do it and is it worth it to go out there and grab a guy like Joey Porter? You know Adam Schefter said this and the Cowboys have aggressively overhauled their defense over the past 13 months acquiring Quinn and Williams Sean Gary and Kenny Clark in trades while using first-round draft picks on Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence But Dallas remains thin at the cornerback position where Porter would potentially provide a significant boost Cowboys starting cornerback Kobe Durant will not play in week three against the Baltimore Ravens because of a hamstring injury This was posted on Sunday, obviously And now we know that there was a lot of different guys who won't play just to put it in perspective This is what the secondary looks like now This is what the secondary looked like just a couple of weeks ago to start the season You just have so much more bodies and the simple fact of the Cowboys wanting to keep Caleb Downs at the nickelback position Makes for an interesting conversation about Joey Porter jr. Because at the end of day he is a cornerback Not a safety and an argue you need more at the safety position now I'm not gonna say you need you don't need a quarterback because right now especially with Siobhan rebel jr If he is not going to be able to be playing We got an update from that from Jerry Jones saying it's hopefully believe not to be a significant injury But you don't know how long that could still be You're thin at both positions and it's an interesting conversation of what's more important to go out there and grab in my mind The reason Joey Porter jr. Is being talked about because he's a big name and because the Cowboys always get linked to big names And he's a very good player 14 games last year 52 tackles with an interception in a sack and the PFF grades They speak for themselves for what he's been able to do. We know what he's capable of We know what he can continue to be capable of and in 2025 a 70 overall defensive grade That have been right up at the top with the rest the Cowboys and the coverage great specifically at 76.6 is Very very nice The conversation though is not about how good of a player Joey Porter jr Is or would he make this team better in some ways? I think a lot of the conversation revolves around the price tag. What exactly would the Cowboys be willing to give up? What exactly would the Sears be willing to accept? Does he fit with Christian Parker's defense? Those are all questions that are probably more important to ask And so let's just take a look at what it would look like if that is true that he is worth a second round pick Then you're thinking okay. Well, you all have you through your next three years. You all have your second round picks Don't know anywhere about that However, you don't really want to treat next year second round pick because in that point you'd have one pick in round one run One pick around for one pick around six. It just wouldn't exactly be a draft that you could improve yourself So I'm pushing that to 2028 theory and that's where I would probably be more willing to give up a second rounder But the question is would you and that's what we asked for you today is to answer this question Would you do this trade the Cowboys will receive Joey Porter jr And the Steelers will receive a 2028 Second round pick if you would do this trade then type T for trade down the comment section if you would not then type P For pass what you do this trade T for trade P for pass. I I know that he'd be such a good addition I know that he'd be a fantastic thing to have but at the same time I also understand the second round pick is very valuable and that they're going to then have to pay him 30 million dollars and you're once again Putting all your money on the defensive side and you don't have assets to go grab somewhere else if you have an injury at the running Back position again, like I don't want this to happen if Javante goes down you have to go to running back Let's just there's so many points to it. So as good of his players he is I think right now I'm probably passing on it just because of the value of him and what it would cost for a trade Not just the trade but also the fact of the matter is you are going to have to pay him 30 million dollars He's not going to be traded and then not accept and not have a contract center that just puts him in the same exact point It's gonna be a trade that has to be with 30 million dollars attached to it So, I don't know if I want that. I understand that you know, you're secondary It would be really nice to have Duran bland Kobe Durant and Caleb downs alongside Alongside Joey Porter jr. And potentially have them for the next couple years But it's just it's a point where I don't know if I'm ready to make it But we know that this is certainly a report that's going around and obviously there are a lot of things that are being said right Now but the Dallas Cowboys eventually adding on to their roster.
