Last minute Eagles news ahead of a critical week three Monday
night football matchup. First the Chicago Bears soldier field.
The Eagles get a double dose of fantastic news ahead of this
critical matchup. I'm your host Colin Kelly. Welcome to Eagles
Digest. In today's video, we're gonna review some late breaking
news a little bit of a preview ahead of this all important week
three matchup. Just why the Eagles need to take care of
business here. But before we do, subscribe to join the most
passionately informed community of Eagles fans. Majority of you
are not subscribed. It's free after all. We're so close to
2500 subs after all. When you look at the state of this
Eagles, Monday night matchup where previously I thought it
was going to be Tyson Bajun in terms of the quarterback
matchup, no Caleb Williams out a couple weeks as he was
recovering from the hamstring. Tyson Bajun posed a significant
difference in skill set. Once he cleared once he practiced at
least on Saturday, to then fully clear on Sunday out of the
concussion protocol. You would think all signs would point to
Tyson Bajun starting being that QB one for the Bears this
matchup, the younger, more athletic type of option.
However, it does not appear to be the case with no pun intended
Case Keenum getting the starting knot. You look at getting back
to Sunday, Fox pregame, Jay Glazer, courtesy of underdog, Jay
Glazer saying Case Keenum is set to start for the Bears week
three Bajun to be the back. That was actually corroborated
officially on Monday by an Ian Rappaport. Case Keenum to me is
the much more favorable matchup for the Eagles. You look at his
age, his skill set, the profile, it's just more limited than the
athletic ability. What Tyson Bajun provides you look at an
Eagles team in dire need of sacks of creating turnovers. Yes,
Case Keenum has that IQ that intelligence to hang around in
the NFL to be in line to start a game. But as Eagles fans, we
know what Case Keenum can and can't do we go all the way back
to an NFC title game versus the Vikings which seems so long ago
at this point, but think about how long time has gone by. And
that's how much older Case Keenum is. The Eagles have to
take advantage of this matchup. And when I think about how well
positioned the Eagles are to win this Monday night football week
three matchup, you look at courtesy of Calshi the market to
win the market of the Eagles Bears week three matchup.
Currently, the Eagles trading at a 65% chance to win. And the
beauty of Calshi is you're trading directly against other
users, not the house like traditional sports books, you're
buying yes or no contracts on the outcome of events related to
weather, even politics, but of course, sports, you're
Philadelphia Eagles. And when you think about them taking care
of business tonight, versus Chicago Bears, which I love a
$25. Yes trade to pay $36.98. And the beauty is, if you're
interested in Calshi signing up using the link in the
description, or the pinned comment with code digest NFL,

trade your first 25. When you think about this matchup, from
the flip side, we know who the quarterback matchup is going to
be for the Bears, and of course your Eagles. But as far as Case
Keenum, he can only do so much with his legs. So who are the
Bears going to rely on? In the absence, whether Caleb Williams
is going to play or not, it's their rushing game. You look at
50% of the time, in the modern NFL, you know, rush play
percentage. Pretty significant in a pass heavy league
traditionally that we like to think about Ben Johnson, of
course, coming from the Detroit Lions, his identity, we know he
wants to run the ball and the Bears, the best rushing offense
Once you look at yards per rush, attempts per game, and
that output over 210 yards per game, three rushing touchdowns
and the Eagles, in terms of the key to the game, it's being able
to contain the ground and pound nature of former Eagle DeAndre
Swift, Philly native, who on the year 169 rushing yards, averaging
five yards a carry, give or take. He is a lead back with
DeAndre Swift. It's a light version of a Jameer Gibbs. It's
an older, not as explosive, but a light version of the Gibbs,
the Sonic Knuckles duo Ben Johnson had to work with in
Detroit. Well, it's a duo after all, it doesn't just begin and
end with DeAndre Swift. It's Kyle Mnungai the second year
back out of Rutgers, who somewhat takes after Dave
Montgomery in terms of that Sonic Knuckles, the ground and
pound. Mnungai is just a bull in a china shop. He is so hard to
contain. You look at seven over 7.3 yards per attempt this
season. So not getting nearly the opportunity, the raw carry
totals that Swift gets, understandably Swift going to be
that more dynamic back on most downs compared to Kyle Mnungai.
But the Eagles have to be able to contain this, the Chicago
Bears duo. That's how they can win this matchup. And how do
they do that in terms of stopping the run game? It's one
Jordan Davis. You don't have to overcomplicate it. The Eagles
mammoth, defensive tackle, the interior presence. Jordan Davis,
he's gonna have to be that elite run defender that he is, and
being able to clog up lanes to allow for other Eagles to
contain this run game for Chicago. When you think about
though, the impact Jordan Davis is going to have, certainly in
the run game, but also potentially in the pass game for
the Eagles pass rush, who notably gets Jonathan Granard to
make his season debut. All signs were pointing after he was
just questionable, not officially listed as out on the
final injury report ahead of the week's matchup, where he had
previously been limited, limited but then listed as out in terms
of the timing and the pacing. Well, guess what? We get
official word, or as unofficially official as it can
get. John Clark, NBC Sports Philly. Jonathan Granard is
expected to make his Eagles debut tonight. That is
ginormous. Even when we know he's going to be limited. Just
being that designated third down pass rush specialist is going to
do wonders for this Eagles defense. Look at being able to
open up things for potentially a Jalex Hunt and Nolan Smith, that
outside partnership. But specifically, you look at just
being able to convert more sacks to allow the Eagles secondary to
not be like they have to lock every single play down every
single second of the game. It's time to not get coverage sacks
to just simply win across this defensive line. In case Keenum
with this quarterback matchup, it's the time to do it. I expect
Jonathan Granard, even in a limited, limited capacity to
have a big time impact on this game to you guys as well. Let me
know in the comments down below, when we flip things to the
Eagles offense as far as how the offense is going to be able to
make their A. You look at the Chicago Bears defense, who are
allowing a league average terms of points per game. But as far
as the yards, there, the yards are there for the taking for
this Eagles offense. Chicago's defense, bottom quarter of the
league, in terms of opponent yards per game, opponent yards
per play amongst the three to five worst in the league. You
look at when you're giving up all these yards and opponents
able to build drives and get into the red zone. This equals
offense already a solid documented history being able to
convert touchdowns in the red zone. Well, guess what the Bears
defense one of the worst opponent red zone scoring
percentages as far as converting touchdowns. The Eagles on paper
could have success as far as this offense. But when you
really think about where the Eagles stand on curtesy of one
Sean Manning, how is he going to grow this third go round in the
regular season? From the coach's box? How can he leverage the
skill set of one Jalen Hurts, who has been really in sync, in
control of this offense to start to start the season? Well, guess
what? Where we missed Dallas Goddard, Eagles are set to get
Zach Hurts, the franchise legend, set to make his season
debut official word. Or again, as unofficially official as you
can get Jeff McLean, one of the preeminent beats, noting this
was Sunday night. Tight end Zach Hurts is expected to be
activated off the practice squad for the Eagles Bears game
Monday night. Her sources Zach Hurts was signed Tuesday. After
forced Dallas Goddard suffering from MCL sprain, Hurts last
played for the Eagles. October 14 2021. We're almost approaching
five years. Can you believe it's been that long? Zach Hurts last
played it down for your birds. And man, I really think he can
make a difference in this matchup. You look at just having
that not as powerful as clearly not at this stage of the square
as Dallas Goddard, but you think of just the nuance, the
understanding about how to manipulate defenders just be a
go to comfort blanket, a security over the middle of the
field intermediate areas for Jalen Hurts to go to. I think
that just simply hasn't changed. As far as Zach Hurts what he can
bring to the Eagles offense. Guys, how excited are you for
this game? We got a primetime our first primetime matchup of
the year. I want to hear from you guys as always a little bit
of predictions. I am fully confident that the Eagles get
this win. I want to know how do you think the Eagles get this
win? Which side of the ball do you think really steps up
tonight at Chicago? Is the offense is the defense look I
think the Eagles look the best they have of the season in all
phases. I really think the defense defense is going to
carry things for a defense that has let Vic Fangio down in some
ways, emphasizing you know, they're gonna emphasize
tackling. I really trust in this defensibility get the first
turnover of the year. It's also convert sacks due to the insert
of none other than Jonathan Bernard into this lineup, guys.
So looking forward to this football is here. As always, go
birds
