The 49ers just beat the Denver Broncos 24-14 and that was such an impressive win because the 49ers
are essentially half a team right now. So many of their guys are out including Nick Bosa. The
Niners don't have a pass rush right now. They never sack Bo Nix and yet they absolutely freaking
dominated him because their run defense was great out of nowhere. Dre Greenlaw played like it was
20-22 and their entire back end from the linebackers to the safeties to the cornerbacks
were great in coverage. The only time the Broncos really moved the ball was one drive when Upton
Stout was out and Jack Jones kept missing tackles. Special teams really put the game, well didn't put
the game away but created some distance. Saron Neal recovered a fumble and that gave the Niners
the ball deep in Broncos territory that really flipped the game. And then on offense it was
interesting because they were so undermanned going against a really good defense. Mike Evans hobbled,
played like a warrior but wasn't himself. Deebo Samuel was himself, scored a touchdown but wasn't
a big contributor. Kyle Shanahan didn't have his best game. It didn't seem like he really knew what
was working. Brock Purdy kept the Niners in the game with his legs. I mean guys weren't open and
he extended so many plays. He got himself out of the pocket and then Kyle Shanahan finally figured
out late in the fourth quarter that he needed to utilize Brock Purdy's legs. He needed to get Purdy
outside the pocket. That resulted in a play action completion of Mike Evans after rolling to his left
that set up a touchdown and then later on Kyle Shanahan called a beautiful screen pass to George
Kittle. Kittle went for 56 yards that put the game away so at the end of the game Purdy was really
good. Kyle Shanahan was really good even though it took him four quarters to figure it out. Raheem
Morris was great the whole game. The defense was great pretty much the whole game until they ran
out of guests right at the end and then they recovered. So is this the best team in football?
I don't know. Maybe, maybe, maybe not. I mean we don't know yet because we haven't even seen the
full team together. The Niners have been finding ways to win with half a squad which is the most
impressive thing you can do in the NFL. These wins freaking count. We'll find out with the Niners
you know how good they really are maybe next week when they face the Seahawks but
this was a huge freaking test. The Broncos were way more healthy but they lost both of their
starting cornerbacks. I don't know if the substation was to blame but that really evened
things up and then Brock Purdy being way better than Bo Nix was the difference. Bo Nix by the way
awful quarterback. What is Bo short for? Boseph?
