Hi, I'm Jer. Welcome to Kill Devil,
where we focus on rum and cocktails.
Today we are going to make coconut syrup.
If you're new to the channel, welcome. If you're
returning to the channel, welcome back.
In either case, don't forget to like and subscribe if you
enjoy what I'm doing here.
As always, timestamps are down below in the description if you just
want to cut to the recipe.
Otherwise, here's me talking.
First note, normally I make this recipe
with cane sugar. However, I have a lot of white sugar today,
so I'm going to be making that
recipe with that instead.
Coconut syrup is essentially a simple syrup made with
some coconut milk instead of some of the water.
So what we're going to do is take
some sugar, take some water, take some coconut milk,
and make the syrup. The first
thing I'm going to add is the sugar.
I've got two and a half cup here, and I will
leave the metrics in the subtitles down below
because I can't do the math in my
head. Next, one cup of water.
Finally, the coconut milk, and normally I use
unsweetened and organic organic you don't have
to do if you don't like but
if you get sweetened coconut milk you're
gonna have to adjust the amount of
sugar you put in now let's see if I can open
this without without hurting anyone
oh and it's pouring nice
look at that now I'm gonna
take this to the stovetop
all right like all the other syrups
that I make we're gonna slowly heat it up
stir until the sugar and the fats
dissolve we'll see in a little bit now
that the sugar and fat has dissolved I'll remove
the heat and I'll let this
cool down to room temperature now
that the surface room temperature have to
strain off the fat well we don't have
to strain off the fat I usually do
sometimes you'll find a layer
of fat has congealed up on the top it's up to you
whether you want to trim it off
or not skim it off or strain it out this one
because I use light it looks like
there isn't much so I'm going right to
bottling
so you know the
deal funnel
syrup bottle
and label we
have coconut
and then in parentheses I'm going
to put white we normally use cane sugar but I
I had a lot of white today, so I'll use that instead,
or one to one, because it's about
one to one, and then July 3rd,
there you have it, coconut syrup, enjoy.
