Grizzlies Making Multiple Moves…
Jul 25, 2026
The Grizzlies are making multiple moves and I for one am 100% satisfied that they got
off one of the absolute worst contracts, probably the worst contract on the team.
And apparently there's rumors that one young guard in the Western Conference is linked
to the Memphis Grizzlies in some way.
What does this mean?
What's going on everybody?
I am so excited.
This is one of my favorite videos ever in the history of Grizzlies Digest.
Thank you so much for tuning in.
I'm Jared Alatorre bringing you the latest news and updates on everything Grizzlies related

This is the day you should never forget and I will never forget either.

I'm so happy guys.
I'm so sorry.
Thank you to the folks at PrizePix for sponsoring this video.
Mighty thanks.
Now why am I so happy?
Well because for one, KCP was arguably, I was scratching my head about this whenever
I made a video about it.
His annual average value was $22 million a year.
And now he wants to go play with LeBron James.
I don't care who you play with.
Hey, that's great.
I mean, you won a championship with him back in 2020 in the bubble.
Some may put a little asterisk on that year on that championship, but either way, I mean,
a win is a win.
And so, I mean, hey, great for him.
But I don't care if you play with LeBron James.
I don't care if you play with Dirk Nowitzki or Steph Curry or Mark Price or Dennis Rodman
or Wizards Michael Jordan or Bob Cousy.
You can play with Bob Cousy for all I care.
And the Grizzlies are off one of the worst contracts, probably the worst contract on
the team.
And let's go over this right now.
So this is from a seasoned NBA insider, Chris Haynes.
Cantabrius Pablo Hope and the Memphis Grizzlies are negotiating a buyout and a veteran three
and D specialist intends to team back up with LeBron James and signed with the Philadelphia
76ers, league sources tell me.
So, like I said, I mean, this is, that's fine.
Hey, you have history with LeBron James, won a championship back in 2020.
Won a championship with the Denver Nuggets back in 2023 as a veteran season three and
D player.
And now he's a veteran, they say three and D specialist.
So I don't know if specialist is just like, that's like another term for a basically a
backup for that.
Now.
I mean, he's not going to start.
We already know the Sixers lineup is going to be Maxie, Jalen Brown, Edgecomb, LeBron
and a bead.
We already know that's going to be the starting lineup, but this was a terrible contract that
the Grizzlies were taking on.
I mean, it, it was terrible, especially for the, the minutes that he played the production
that got out of it.
It was terrible.
So let's go over actually, this deserves a full screen graphics.
So we're going to show you full screen.
So I went from Quentin Post.
So look at AAV, the far right column, if you will, Quentin Post, 8.7 million a year.
Then you go upward, Jeremy Grant and KCP are making the same, well, we're making the same
annually.
And now they're off the worst contract.
Maybe even in basketball.
I don't know.
No, no.
I don't want to say that.
I don't want to give KCP that.
It's not against KCP at all.
This is, by the way, this is not a video against him at all.
This is more so a video against the organization for kind of okaying that, giving the green
light for that in the first place.
I'm like, okay, well, you know, that's fine.
Hey, KCP, you're getting your money.
That's great.
But that, De'Aaron Fox is the worst contract in basketball.
I'm sure we can all agree on that.
All NBA fans will agree when I say De'Aaron Fox has the absolute worst contract in basketball.
Not KCP.
I'm not going to, I'm not doubting KCP.
Look, he's a fine player.
He's a veteran player who's been there, done that, he's won two championships.
I'm not trying to, this is not about him necessarily.
This is about how, look, he finessed the league in a way somehow where he got $22 million
in AAV apparently.
I'm like, well, now the Grizzlies don't have to worry about that.
Now, one of the young guards in the West apparently is being linked to the Memphis Grizzlies and
I'm not so sure how to feel about it, but I don't really think it will benefit the Grizzlies
at all if they do hit the homerun signing here.
But this is Jordan Hawkins.
This is from Mark Stein and Jake Fisher, NBA Insiders.
The Memphis Grizzlies have registered some interest in taking on Jordan Hawkins.
Now, he's a champion with UConn.
He has had moments here and there, but 6'5", 190 pounds, I'd like for him to be maybe 20
pounds bigger at least, but because that size defensively, I just don't know how to feel
about that in the NBA today, but that is something that the Grizzlies may be taking
on.
Now, this is from Joseph Zucker of the Bleach Report.
He has the Pelicans are $10.4 million under the first apron of the luxury tax.
Trading Hawkins for draft compensation wouldn't save a ton of money, but would give New Orleans
a little wiggle room.
The team could place more value in bringing up a roster spot if it's a straight-up player
for picks swap.
So again, you could say player for picks swap all you want to, but I genuinely don't think
this benefits the Grizzlies that much, especially if we're going to look at Hawkins' stats in
a little bit, but again, I think he's got something there.
He's shown signs of shooting the basketball very well, but I don't think that this really
benefits the Grizzlies at all.
In fact, they actually need to start thinking about getting rid of players more than actually
bringing in players.
I think they're fine with the roster they have now.
Zach Kleiman, you've done wonders this offseason.
I don't think you need to drastically bring anybody in or change anything the way it is.
I think you've cooked enough this offseason.
So Zach Kleiman, hey, thumbs up.
I don't think you need to bring in Jordan Hawkins.
But this is continued from Joseph Zucker from Bleacher Report.
Were he to join Memphis rotation, Hawkins might be able to carve out a regular reserve
role behind Cedric Coward at shooting guard or Jalen Wells on the wing.
Wherever he's playing on opening night, the 24-year-old needs to be able to showcase his
skills ahead of restricted free agency next summer.
So again, this is a reserve backup role.
We already know this.
Right?
I mean, Jalen Wells, if Jalen Wells is a backup now, Jordan Hawkins is definitely going to
be a backup.
But that's fine.
I mean, there are only 454 spots, whatever it is, at the NBA.
I mean, you can take the minutes where you can take the minutes.
But this is from Pelicans on SI.
Hawkins is still shooting 34.8% from three, 37.6% from the field for his career.
His 2025-2060 season stats are in line with these numbers as well, suggesting a lack of
improvement.
If anything, his mid-range accuracy has fallen since he came into the league for cleaning
the glass.
After shooting 40% on two-point shots outside the rims of rookie, Hawkins is at 32% this
season.
Excuse me.
I have a lot of allergies.
So again, we look at Hawkins' stats here, and it's not the end of the world.
But you feel like he could do a little better.
Now you see a look at his minutes per game that took a deep dip in those two years, in
the 2024-2025 season and the 2025-2026 season, that did take a dip.
And that's solely because of his shooting numbers.
Now I think that his three-point shooting isn't bad, but I just don't think the production
enough itself is enough to warrant anything of a signing itself.
But that's up to you.
I mean, what do you think?
I'm happy that KCP is moving on.
Now Jordan Hawkins, he's a young guy.
He just may need a change of scenery for all we know.
But I just don't think it's necessarily something the Grizzlies need to dive into.
But what do you think?
In the comment section down below, let me know.
Then our last question of the day, and we'll leave with this.
This is one of the happiest videos I've ever made.
But what do you think?
KCP Jordan Hawkins?
Was KCP moving out a great move?
You already know my answer.
I'm not going to say it.
Okay?
I'm not going to say one of these two options.
I'm not going to say it.
Again, play with Bob Cousy all you want to.
You're not making $22 million with this team.
That's fine with me.
But again, in all seriousness, no, KCP is a seasoned veteran 3 and D specialist, and
we wish him well.
I wish him the best.
Look, if he wants to play with LeBron, he can play with LeBron.
You want to play with, again, Bob Cousy, I don't know why I'm using him as an example,
but again, you can play with Bob Cousy all you want to.
The thing is that the Grizzlies don't have to take on this $22 million contract in AAB,
and that's the thing I'm happy about.
So again, we already know the direction the Grizzlies are going into, and now because
KCP wants to play with the 76ers, we'll let them do that.
We take on the 18 to 23-year-olds, they can take on the 30 to 41-year-olds.
That's fine with me.
Anyway, that's going to do it here for Grizzlies Digest.
Thank you so much for tuning in.
