The Grizzlies have done it again...

The Grizzlies have done it again finding a player off the street out of nowhere and then finally turning him into something Kind of special here in summer league. We've all been talking about cambuser Kareem lopez, what's he going to do the memphis grizzlies looking very very good in the summer league right now And one guy who's getting a lot of attention right now on grizzly social media someone who wasn't even involved in the Deep iowa run in march madness last year That's when they went to the elite eight with first year head coach ben mccollum led by bennett sturtz But this is a guy who got very limited minutes In his last season in college and now he's shining on the nba summer league stage What's going on everybody? Thank you so much for tuning in to another episode of grizzlies Dad just bringing you the latest news and updates on everything grizzlies related now I know we're some of you are very very disappointed after england's historic collapse against argentina in the world cup semi-final, but that's again, a lot of emotion coming off of that but emotion Loses all the time and data wins and that's why we use otis edge analytics where passion meets data their team of 30-year vegas pros and next gen An analyst delivers daily expert picks across your favorite leagues powered by real numbers Not hunches take a smarter approach this season and build your bankroll the smart way Download the otis edge app today and see why their quick growing community is getting ahead of the game because that's the otis edge Now who is this kid? Right brandon. How is it? I never thought i'd say his name here on a grizzlies digest channel But again, i'm just I hear through the grapevine. Nothing gets past me here And this is an absolute shooting clinic. At least that's what's said by jordan underwood of dear old gold the iowa Hawkeyes fan-sided page Brandon housen is making the most of his opportunity with the grizzlies in summer league and he's giving the grizzlies a lot to think about now this is a this isn't just Something that just happened and and now he's just kind of flying off the radar No, I mean he's done this in back-to-back games and we'll even go over some stats for you uh here in just a minute, but This is continued here from underwood housen continues proving why he's worthy of a chance after another 20 point outburst So this is brandon housen again from iowa Played previously at kansas state and at villanova and then was expected to be this hot shot at iowa never shot below 39 from beyond the arc in his college career before iowa, but Didn't really play that much and underwood says his his lackluster final collegiate season left him undrafted in the 2026 draft But he was so impressive during workouts for multiple teams that memphis added him to its summer league roster Now after a slow start housen came alive in the grizzlies final utah summer league game in salt lake city Dropping a team high in 21 points as he continues to force his way into the discussion for a roster spot He put up another dynamic shooting display this time against golden state And again, this is a phenomenal stat work by the young man I mean 20 points six main threes now. He looks like a guy who Can shoot the ball very well I think his handles need to get a little better but someone again who's just off the street I'm, not trying to say scotty pippen jr And cam spencer and jaylen wells were found off the street. But again, these were guys who weren't they were looked at as like the as bench guys, at least you could say bench guys whenever they were first drafted here, but Zach kleinman has done a really great job of this. I talked about carson cooper last week of how Again, the grizzlies are winning with big men right now. They're winning with zach eady isaiah stewart They're winning with uh, quentin the post signing and then carson cooper, hopefully he gets some good g league minutes With the memphis hustle, but brendan housing Who knows if the grizzlies even have a two-way spot for him because we're about to go over that in just a minute Who's going to be the guy that gets booted out? But there are still some chances for him to actually make an nba roster And this is once again continuing from jordan underwood in his limited tenure with the grizzlies He's proving he could be a high volume efficient shooter in the starting lineup or as a reserve And hawkeye fans owe him an apology for criticizing every shot He took it'll be interesting to see what memphis decides to do about his future Especially since the organization doesn't currently have any available two-way slots It's a long shot for housing to make the grizzlies roster and if they don't wave or reassign any two-way players Howson might be on the outside looking in Regardless of whether it's in memphis or elsewhere housing has definitely opened his up some eyes And has played his way into roster contention with his elite shooting some teams with open way spots boston celtics detroit pistons houston rockets Los angeles lakers miami heat milwaukee bucks. Orlando magic 76ers and rafters could easily catch on With a g league organization if he's not signed to a two-way deal yeah, I think he he is He's proven why he's so confident from deep And of course i'd like to see more of his game. I think he could expand more of his game to actually Make a A two-way contract at some point But again, this is just someone who has exploded onto the scene leading the team in points in some league and again, there are Well-known grizzlies that we know on the summer league roster there's taylor hendricks there's omax there's coward Uh, there's kambuza There's lopez. There's carson cooper. I mean, we know a lot of these guys um even uh cleveland, I mean We've gotten to know a lot of these young guys pretty well over the years and For brown and housing to step up like this Um is really something special to see he's really making the memphis coaching staff really have to think About their two-way contracts that they have right now So this is from drew kelso and he said uh, and this is someone who Covers the nba on social media. This is from him on x Because brennan housing had one of the most memorable nba summer league performances Uh in oms history yesterday 20 points on six of eight shooting from three and a win And a huge name for himself across the nba so proud of this dude And he is and what he's overcome to get started here. He's just getting started. Yeah, I mean if you're gonna think about it Iowa had Some great guys last year, of course, they were led by bennett sturtz and it looked like for a while Hey, we did a couple videos on bennett sturtz and then Was picked by the grizzlies ended up getting traded Now he's with the oklahoma city thunder. I think he's going to make a great addition there but This is someone who had high hopes On ben mccollum roster who is prioritized spacing prioritizes patience on offense prioritizes shooting Slashing And just smart team basketball Um, and you thought brennan housing had a spot in that for all you iowa basketball fans out there um, I don't know how many of you are watching right now, but I'm a good source. Hey, I love big ten basketball. So For him not to get his opportunity and get limited opportunities at iowa only getting chances against I don't know robert morris Um mcneese state. I don't know what teams they played last year before their conference schedule But for him to get limited opportunities like this at iowa And step up to the nba summer league scene and do this and lead the team in points That's something you don't see every day. So I think I do think yes, jordan underwood is correct They they iowa fans do owe him an apology because this is something that we did not see coming um, not at all and this is another little Nugget here overall this summer It's from sam lewick Of a round table, I believe overall this summer. He's shooting 52 from deep It's 11 of 19 And he's doing just a phenomenal job. I can't say the job he's doing um enough, I mean he is someone who just Is now here We wouldn't have known about him just four days ago Four or five days ago and now he's kind of exploded onto the scene And now he's giving memphis a real chance to think what could the two-way contracts look like this year But that's gonna do it for us. Thank you so much for watching the video You can like it comment subscribe to it your thoughts on brendan housing comment your thoughts on that We decided to use a little bit of a different background this time. We're we're not inside fedex forum We're actually reporting outside fedex forum looks very beautiful Very beautiful here outside, but hey Decided to just change it up a little bit, but let's see kind of how I feel Uh going forward, but thank you so much for watching the video and stay tuned for more
