The San Francisco Giants just made several moves. A mainstay in the rotation over the last few weeks
is out, hits the IELTS, and a familiar face is back in the bullpen with that move. We'll break
those down here on SF Giants Digest. If you're new here, welcome to the channel. I am your host,
Michael Monreal. And if you've been here before, welcome back to SF Giants Digest. We are so glad
you found your way back to the channel. Now, before we get into today's video,
let me know down in the comments your thoughts on the current state of the San Francisco Giants.
Obviously, getting swept by the Kansas City Royals, one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball,
is not a great look, but let me know your thoughts down in the comments.
Now, before we get into today's video, this one is brought to you by PrizePix. PrizePix is

crazy picks later and some of the awesome promotions that they're running. Make sure

content and analysis on YouTube. So thank you guys for checking out PrizePix, and thank you
to PrizePix for sponsoring today's video. Now, I know over the past few weeks, we've been covering
the trade deadline, what rumors, what reports are coming out about the Giants plan heading into that
big day, but we do have some roster moves that we did want to break down here on the channel.
And these ones came directly from the San Francisco Giants a few days ago. Now, the first one was
involving Tristan Beck. He was recalled from AAA Sacramento, obviously a bullpen arm, a depth
piece that we've seen over the past few seasons that has had some up and down stretches with the
Giants over the last few years. We'll break down how I feel about him in a few minutes, but the
bigger one is right-handed pitcher Trevor McDonald placed on the 15-day IL with a right elbow
straight. Now, if anyone was watching the game a few nights ago, obviously he was warming up,
felt something weird in his elbow and asked the training staff to come out, inevitably left the
game. And, and that was that we didn't really know much about it. And we will still not know
until tomorrow afternoon. Now, this came from Susan Slusser, the Giants beat writer for the
San Francisco Chronicle, but she said the Giants won't have results of Trevor McDonald's MRI until
tomorrow at the earliest and they're off tomorrow. So we'll have, or we will learn more Friday.
Matt Chapman is making strides towards return and could be back on homestand. Now,
Matt Chapman is a whole different conversation, but getting right back into the Trevor McDonald
conversation. This is a guy who has had an up and down season, obviously looks like a potential
future piece in this rotation, maybe a long-term bullpen fit, but he really has had some flashes
during the 2026 campaign. So far this year, a 5, 1, 2 era 7, 2, 9 strikeouts per 92.9 walks per 9.7
fan graphs at Winsboro replacement, which is actually towards the top of the Giants rotation.
It's higher than Robbie Ray, obviously higher than guys like Tyler Miley, Adrian Houser.
And that's all in just 70 and a third innings pitch. So not a huge sample, but he has been
a pretty consistent name in the rotation over the past few months. And a guy who is really getting
his first crack at the big league rotation in an extended period. And he has showed some flashes.
As I mentioned, this is something I put out a few hours ago, but if you were to take out
Trevor McDonald's eight and seven earned run appearances against the blue Jays and the white
he'd have a 3, 5, 0 era with 4, 1, 2 fit and 64 and a third innings pitch. Obviously you can't
just take those games out of his numbers, but I would say that he has pitched significantly
better than his numbers would suggest. You look at a guy that has a 5, 1, 2 era and you say,
what is that dude doing in major league baseball? But you really, it's, it's two blow up starts.
The other outings that's been one to earn rounds every time out. And I would say, you know,
compared to guys like Tyler Malley, like Adrian Hauser, he has given the giants a much more
consistent chance at winning in the rotation. Then those names I just mentioned, I think you
see what you have with Trevor McDonald with Carson Woodson hunt with maybe a blade Tidwell in the
future. And you, the rest of the two months of the season, obviously the rest of the year is lost.
The giants are not trying to win anything. They're not trying to make the playoffs. This season is
completely forgotten about. You see what you have with Trevor McDonald, with, with the Carson
Woodson hunt, and you have to build for the next few seasons. Now at Jeff Young, obviously a big
face on giants Twitter replied to that said, there's a pretty good basis for him to fill a
rotation spot fifth starter. Maybe that would be better than trying to fill that in free agency.
And I said a hundred percent, you know, especially considering how poor this free agent class is,
if you can develop something somewhat effective against lefties, if you're Trevor McDonald,
obviously that's his biggest downfall right now, his Achilles heel is that against lefties,
he struggles sometimes because he doesn't have necessarily that out pitch facing those hitters.
He could be a solid number four. If he could find somewhere in, in, in his arsenal to be more
effective against lefties. I know the giants have shown an inability to develop pitches for a lot of
their starters. You look at a Carson was not who has been extremely change of reliant over the last
few years and hasn't been able to develop a good slider or a good breaking ball. And that, that
doesn't give me a ton of confidence in the giants development staff and doing that for Trevor
McDonald. But if that were to take place, he could be a very solid fourth or fifth starter for the San
Francisco giants moving forward. Now, the other name, obviously in this entire transaction is
Tristan Beck. Now I mentioned, we'd get my feelings out about him in a few minutes,
and we're going to do that now. So far this year, a six, seven, five era in 10 and two thirds
innings. He's had some solid seasons with the giants back in 2024, a one, six, nine era in just
16 innings. But I've thought for a few seasons now that Tristan Beck is just simply not a big league
caliber arm. And now maybe if you're the Kansas city Royals, the Colorado Rockies, the athletics
in Sacramento, if you're a team like that, who's not necessarily trying to win a world series year
in and year out, then sure, Tristan Beck can fill some innings for you. But if you're the San Francisco
giants and you go in every single year, claiming that you're contending for something, you know,
every, every opening day, we hear that Buster Posey, Tony Vitello, they want to win that season,
but it has simply not happened. Tristan Beck is not a guy who I love being in their plans
moving forward. But I guess if he's just the depth starter coming up when guys are injured,
stuff like that, then it does make a little bit more sense. Now, I didn't mention before we get
out of here, we would get into some specific picks from prize picks. Obviously the giants are
off today, but Fernando Tatis jr. Has started to pick things up after an extremely slow start to
the season. You can go more or less one and a half total bases for him. You can check out total bases,
home runs, fantasy scores, a ton of MLB picks on prize picks. Currently a prize picks also
has some really great promotions going on. They're currently doing their flex Friday,
which of course would be tomorrow. That is back in full swing, but it's your end of the week,
but he's in your flex Friday payout boost to get a 40% higher payout every single Friday.

to bring the best giants content and analysis on YouTube. Thank you to price picks for sponsoring
today's video. Now that is going to do it for this conversation. Now I think Trevor McDonald is a guy
who we don't necessarily know what we have on our hands with him yet. And I think if he's healthy,
the last month of the season or something, obviously elbows are a little bit scary.
So you want to take your time with him, potentially rehabbing from whatever IL
stint it is, but you want to be careful with that. And if he can show you the last month of
the season, that this is a guy who could be a part of your rotation moving forward as a number
five starter, maybe as a sixth starter bullpen depth piece, then that's, that's something you
need in the future. The giants can't just sign every free agent available. Like fans seem to
want every single winter. So we'll see what happens with this IL stint. Hopefully it's
nothing crazy because as I mentioned, he has showed flashes of a real potential piece for
the San Francisco giants moving forward. How many of your thoughts on Trevor McDonald hitting the
IL and Tristan Beck being back in the bullpen down in the comments below, if you enjoyed today's

myself and everyone over at digest media. As always, thank you so much for watching and we'll
