We know we don't have any basketball or even any summer league action right now, so kind
of a little dead period in the NBA.
But I mean, there's still MLB, there's still maybe some futures that you want in NBA or
NFL action.

Now going to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Now there are two players on this list of most underrated NBA players.
It's from Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report.
Now he talked about two Grizzlies that are on here and I don't necessarily think it's
because they're not seen enough, but I just think it's because the Grizzlies are a team
the last couple years where we haven't really seen any talent and that's not a knock on
the team itself, but it's just because we're not seeing anything from the ones or even
the twos.
90% of the payroll was out of the lineup by the time we got to late March.
So who are we talking about?
So we're talking about Ty Jerome.
They put him at number four.
Ty Jerome coming in his first season with Memphis last season joining us from the Cleveland
Cavaliers.
This was Zach Buckley on what he had to say.
The argument for keeping Ty Jerome out of the top five has nothing to do with his ability,
but he's more covered in that department based on what he has shown in the past two seasons.
He's more than covered in that department, it's just that availability issues have kept
him from proving the sustainability of his 24-25 breakout when he nearly gained entry
to the famed 50-40-90 club while snagging bronze in the sixth man of the year race.
Between a calf strain and an ankle injury, he was limited to just 15 outings for the
Grizzlies in the 25-26 season.
So yeah, we haven't really gotten to see what this guy is.
He looked like a heavy pick, I don't want to say heavy pick, but he was in the running
I believe a couple of years ago for sixth man of the year, and Cleveland had a pretty
loaded roster.
They still have Donovan Mitchell, they had Darius Garland, Sam Merrill, and then Ty Jerome
on top of that.
I mean, the Cavaliers were pretty loaded at guard.
They had plenty of guys, but Ty Jerome kind of snuck his way into relevance, and he's
just a really great shooter.
I think he's got unlimited range, and he's just an amazing talent that continues to get
better each and every year.
Just very unfortunate we only got to see him for 15 outings last year.
This is Zach Buckley continued for him to still rank fourth on this list after all the
absences says a lot.
His numbers still probably say more since the start of the 24-25 season.
He's managed to cram 13.8 points on 50.5, I'm going to assume that's 50.5% on field
goals, 43.3% on three-point shooting, and 87.3% shooting at the line.
And then those are some other numbers there for you, and I'll go on to the second paragraph
where it says he looks like at the very least a skilled and efficient offensive player who
can lean on his instincts and awareness to combat his physical limitations on defense.
Yet he may not be held in even that high of a regard after missing so many games in a
bad Memphis team.
Well, I don't necessarily agree with that last part though, where Buckley's a respected
writer with Bleacher Report, and once again, I look at his content pretty much all the
time, but I don't think it's his fault, it's not Ty Jerome's fault that he joined a bad
Memphis team, I mean, he was injured just like everybody else, so it's not really his
fault, but let's just hope he can give at least 60, let's say 60-70 games next season
at least, and if he does that, I think this is going to be a much, much different and
much better Memphis team than what we saw.
Now I know we talk about the new big three, the new young big three for the Memphis Grizzlies,
but I really do think that you need Ty Jerome in this lineup, and once you have him either
starting or as a backup, it's either going to be Scottie Pippen Jr. or Ty Jerome, very
strong case for Ty Jerome to be on that starting five, but even if not, he's going to be a
very valuable player for you, and he needs to be playing in a whole bunch of minutes.
Now another player that they had listed, you didn't see him in the intro video, but he
snuck his way on here at number 10, and that is Cam Spencer.
Now he was a guy who, and try not to do my best Chris Collingsworth impression, here's
a guy who is a really solid shooter out of UConn, and we just thought okay, he's just
going to be a G League player, a backup player at best in the NBA, but he's ended up playing
some really valuable minutes, really got to increase his playing time in his second NBA
season compared to his rookie NBA season, and you know, he's someone who already kind
of talks the talk and walks the walk, and this was what Buckley had to say about Cam
Spencer.
How exactly would one fake his way to a 47.3, 44.9, 94 slash line across 1,714 minutes?
Where is the inflation found in the Canyon separating his 400 assists from his 93 turnovers?
He averaged 133.4 minutes per 100 shot attempts, a 96 percentile mark per cleaning the glass.
Let's say he's half as good as these numbers suggest, but guess what?
He would still have a strong argument for being one of the basketball's best bargains,
which is 3 years, $7.9 million left on his deal, and one of the association's must under-ranked
players.
And you can bet that after this, Mr. Spencer is going to be getting a heck of a paycheck,
and you really hope that Zach Kleiman hangs on to him, but you look at his market value
now, I've got to check Spotrak, I guess, I know Spotrak keeps up with NFL athletes, I
don't know if they keep up with NBA athletes, but I think they do, but I have to check one
of those sites to see what his market value is, especially once we get into his third
NBA season, this upcoming season, because that's going to be very important to say,
well, hey, this is what he's worth, get Zach Kleiman to afford this, you've got Kambuza
on this rookie deal, and you know, pretty hefty rookie deal because it's Kambuza, but
you've got to keep your young core intact.
And he's got a huge young core, Tumasi Saloh, I feel like I really haven't said his name
in like maybe two months in any of these videos, but I mean, he's got a really nice young core
to work with, and he's got really good problems on hand that he's going to spend a lot of time
solving this season, and I think that's a really good issue, especially for a young
upcoming team that's trying to figure themselves out.
I think it's a very good problem that this is.
But here's our last question of the day, I want you to answer this.
Who should Isolo start at the point guard position?
Ty Jerome, Scottie Pippen Jr., I didn't have other on there, but I mean, hey, it's probably
not going to be Javon Small, even though he had a heck of a summer league this summer,
but probably going to be those two guys that are going to be competing for it, but that
would probably be another separate video, another separate time, but just kind of getting
the ball rolling for you here on Grizzlies Digest, but let me know in the comments section
down below.
Thank you all so much for watching this video, you can like it, comment, subscribe to it,
let me know your comments down below, your thoughts on Ty Jerome, Cam Spencer, Scottie
Pippen Jr., Tumasi Isolo, Zach Kleinman, I mean, hey, it's free game at this point, it's
a slow season, but hey, we're still rolling here on Grizzlies Digest, and we still got
you covered.
So I appreciate you listening, and we'll see you in the next video.
