Is this team gonna bounce back but at the same time as much as there will be We're also looking at a player who's gonna look like a completely new player next year And that's to Ron Holmes Holmes had a rough start to his NBA career because he wasn't getting minutes and this is after coming off the torn Achilles So his start to his career was not ideal But now he finds himself in a situation of really bounce back and he's doing the work Just like I'm doing the work for you guys and you guys should make sure to subscribe to Nuggets I just because 70% of viewers are not subscribed to the channel. Had he not gotten injured things would have been a lot different Likely would have played more last year if he showed something in his rookie season, but now he is going into his third year It's gut check time because at the end of the day if he doesn't play Well, the Nuggets who are close to the second day friend They could always just decline the team option next year And then all of a sudden he's a free agent and he already finds himself with his career on the ropes now He'll know that ahead of time. So he'll know how he has to play but the Nuggets at the same time They're not gonna do that They're likely gonna opt into it because it's a cheap enough deal and they don't really have a ton of big men right now I mean Jonas found Junius is leaving the team as we all know and Val last year did play and now this looks like it Really will be a mix between Bagley and Holmes in this spot to back up So that does add some but Val played 13 minutes per game as the backup center played 65 games and put up nine and five So they're not the world's biggest shoes to fill but they are shoes to fill and Holmes is as good a chance as anyone to go out there and do that because of the defense that he has that frankly Bagley doesn't so there is that one thing that makes it feel like it's very very possible That we can see that now Denver Nuggets Twitter the NVR Nuggets not the actual one Durant Holmes talked about it's exactly the type of stuff You want to hear from a guy who is going to turn this thing around saying I need to be here early I shouldn't be going on vacations right now. I've been proven myself yet And that's why he's in Denver working out with the summer league team at the same time Who's also mentioned because Durant Holmes was talking about two rookies He said Trevon Brazil can shoot a lot better than people think he's a very good defender He's actually pretty smart while Bryce is very skilled He's physical and he's a great on-ball defender And obviously Bryce Hopkins was selected to be a great on-ball defender because well frankly they needed a great on-ball defender Now Brazil was the first guy they picked that took two guys in the second round Brazil did only shoot 34% during college, which doesn't fare great for the NBA, but also it shows that you absolutely can Sort of learn how to shoot because he is pulling it and it's a matter of the free throw percentage as well Right now that being at 72% doesn't forecast that he's gonna be some knockdown shooter ever But as long as he can space the floor out That's really what matters at the end of the day while also continuing to be good at defense and just be that great athlete that He is. Meanwhile, we look at Bryce Hopkins. Hopkins who bounced around schools a little bit last year But at 13 points shot 36% from three, 71% from the free throw line like Trevon Brazil And he's there mainly to be a defender. Now again, he can score, he can go downhill well He's got an ability to hit the three, we'll see how that lasts in the NBA again You're taking that step back But at the same time there's a lot to like about both these rookies and I mean seeing that they're both Experienced does mean that they have more of a chance to play and Deron Holmes working out with them is a good sign because Holmes He's not necessarily a veteran, but he's also not not a veteran like again. This is his third year in the league He understands what he's in now Maybe not fully but he understands what the day-to-day is gonna look like in the way that a lot of people don't so it does Beg the question that I do want to ask you guys Will Deron Holmes make an immediate impact for the Nuggets next season?
