The San Francisco Giants just provided us with multiple updates regarding the big league club.
We have debuts, we have returns, and we have shutdowns to break down here on SF Giants Digest.
If you're new here, welcome to the channel. I'm your host, Michael Monreal, and if you've been
here before, welcome back to SF Giants Digest. We are so glad you found your way back to the
channel. Now before we get into today's video, go down in the comment section and let me know
which player you're following through the last five games of the 2026 campaign. Also, if you
haven't yet, make sure to go down below, hit that like button, and hit that subscribe button. It's
the easiest way to help support the channel and really does help us continue to bring the best
Giants content and analysis on YouTube. Also, about 75% of you guys watch the videos or not
actually subscribe to the channel. It's completely free, takes just a second of your time, and we're
trying to hit 5,000 subs by the end of the season, so just a few days left to try and do
that. Now getting into today's video, we have a ton of updates to break down regarding the
San Francisco Giants. The first two to three of these are going to be involving yesterday's
updates, and then the last half of the video are going to be updates we got just minutes ago from
the beat reporters covering the San Francisco Giants. So yesterday we had a flurry of moves
in San Francisco. Here you can see from the Giants Twitter account, the Giants made the
following roster moves today, which of course was yesterday. Bo Davidson was selected from
AAA Sacramento, which we did break down yesterday. Infielder Marcelo Meyer was reinstated from the
10-day injured list. Bryce Eldridge placed on the 7-day concussion list, retro to September 18th.
Jung-Hoo Lee placed on the 10-day injured list with a groin contusion. Left-handed pitcher Philip
Abner designated for assignment. First of all, we're not going to really go into too much depth
on Philip Abner. Obviously he had two very unfortunate games against the Dodgers, which
kind of lost the Giants those two games in all honesty. So he's got DFA'd. We probably won't
see him back in San Francisco. You know, you wish him the best through the rest of his career,
but the rest of them, Bryce Eldridge, Jung-Hoo Lee hit the IEL and if I had to guess both of those
two guys season are completely over. We will not see them in the last five games of the year. Most
likely there's a slight chance we see Bryce Eldridge in the Dodgers series, but I think it makes more
sense to just shut those guys down and let them get a jumpstart on the off season and be healthy
to start the 2027 campaign whenever that is. Now the first one I want to go more in depth on
is Marcelo Meyer. Now, of course, Marcelo Meyer is the guy that came over in the Eric Miller trade
at this year's trade deadline. And I personally loved this deal. Of course, Marcelo Meyer,
a former top 10 to 15 prospect in all of Major League Baseball. And for those following that's
higher than Joshua Gonzalez is currently ranked. That's higher than Bryce Eldridge ever ranked. So
a very premier prospect in the sport of baseball naturally. And we got our first look at him in
San Francisco and in all honesty, it was not the best debut just being completely honest. He
struggled. Marcelo Meyer's Giants debut could not have gone much worse. This comes from strikeouts
and dingers on Twitter. Meyer went over four with four strikeouts Monday against Minnesota. It was
his first MLB game since June 25th after dealing with a forearm injury and a foot injury during
rehab. So yeah, it took him a while to get to his first debut and he didn't get any rehab assignment.
He get any rehab bats. So it does make sense why he had a struggling night, but hopefully we can
show some glimpses of what made him a top prospect through the last five games near.
He's not starting tonight. So maybe he gets a pinch hit at bat, but we'll see him in a few
more games before the conclusion of the 2026 campaign. And as of right now, I do think Meyer
is the opening day second baseman for the 2027 Giants. So it'll be interesting to see what he
can bring to the table through the last few games. Now I do quickly want to talk about what Bo
Davidson showed us in his Major League Baseball debut. Now he became the first giant to record a
steal a base and score a run all in his debut since 1931. So what is 90 plus years? We've seen
since a giant did that, which is pretty wild to think about. In my opinion, it doesn't sound too
crazy to get a hit, steal a base and score a run, but you never know what could happen. And Bo
Davidson became the first giant since 1931 to do so. And he kind of just showed us what made him
such an intriguing prospect. That first at bat, he roped a single into right field and came around
to score, of course, saw the stolen base. I'm really excited to see what Bo Davidson can show
us through the last five games and just hopefully move towards securing his spot in the future of
this organization. Now, right now, we're going to get into some of the more updated updates with
the Giants updated updates, the more recent updates involving the San Francisco Giants.
These came just minutes ago from several of the San Francisco Giants beat reporters,
and they're going to be fascinating to break down. Now, this first one comes to us from
Landon Roop said he is done for the season. Roop said he feels fine, but he had already
blown past his previous career high in innings, so no need to push it. And I do think this has
been a little bit of an underrated talking point throughout the course of the 2026 campaign is I
know there was a lot of ups and a lot of downs with Landon Roop this year. There's some controversy
that I'm not going to talk about here, but he was in the rotation the entire season. Sure,
there were some short outings didn't accumulate a ton of innings, but he's the only guy who has
been in the Giants rotation since that first week of the season. And there's not a lot of guys left
on this roster that have made it the entire season, and he is one of the few. So you have to
give your hats off to him for that. And we saw him blow past his career innings, like was mentioned
in that tweet. So hopefully next season, we see him go a little bit further than that with a
ERA on the year 155 innings, a 401 ERA struck out 8.3 hitters per nine walked 4.3 hitters per nine
good for 2.5 wins above replacement, which is obviously a very good mark. Now,
Landon Roop is one of two guys locked into the rotation next year, obviously behind Logan Webb.
So yeah, you like that 2.5 F where you probably like it more if he's a three or four in your
rotation, not necessarily the two heading into a season. But who knows, I do think Landon Roop can
be a little bit better next year, maybe a mid threes ERA at 165 innings, you would take that
every single day of the week, I do think this year was a good stepping stone for Landon Roop,
show us what you bring to the table a little bit. And next year could be the season we,
we see him take a real step kind of like what Logan Webb did back in 2021 ish. So that is it
for Landon Roop on the season. And we will not see him now until spring training next year.
Now the next update I want to break down is involving Blade Tidwell. Now Blade Tidwell
officially hit the aisle with a high grade sprain of his UCL, his elbow, which of course
is not very good considering Trevor McDonald already went under the knife for TJ Carson
Winston and our new under the knife for TJ. And all of a sudden the Giants pitching depth for
next season in the rotation is absolutely shot. I'm going to be writing an article on this on
justbaseball.com later today. So it'll probably be up tomorrow or the day after that. So make
sure to keep your eyes out for that. But yeah, Blade Tidwell showed some good things, some,
some rougher outings this year. So I'm not sure what to think of him heading into 2027. But of
course, if he ends up going under the knife for TJ, we will not see him until early 2028. So
it'll be interesting to follow what the rehab looks like for Blade Tidwell. If he ends up
getting surgery and to finish off the updates in this video, Braxton Roxby is back in San Francisco
as another arm in the bullpen. I think he can be stretched out to two or three innings if the
Giants wanted him to. So we'll see him back in San Francisco. He'll probably throw anything
if we're being completely honest. But an indication Tidwell might be IL bound. And
since this tweet went out, Tidwell was officially moved to the IL for his UCL, his elbow. So
prayers up for Tidwell. Hopefully it's a quick recovery and we do see him in 2027. And quite
frankly, the Giants need him in 2027 because there is zero starting pitching depth besides
Logan Webb, Landon Roop, and I guess you could say Matt Tugboat Wilkinson. So those are the
updates for today and including yesterday. Let me know your thoughts down below on Marcelo Meyer,
on Bo Davidson, on Landon Roop's season getting shut down officially, and on Bryce Eldridge,
Jungkoo Lee probably being done for the 2026 campaign. I want to hear what you guys have
to say in the comment section below. And if you enjoyed today's video, go down below,
hit that like button, hit that subscribe button. That'd be much appreciated by myself and everyone
here at Digest Media. And again, we're trying to hit 5,000 subs by the end of the season,
so just a few days left to try and do that. As always, thank you so much for watching,
and we will see you next time.
