AI GeneratedThe Boston Celtics have confirmed the signing of Devin Carter, a two-way player previously with Sacramento. This move continues Joe Mazzulla's strategy of deepening the team's roster with versatile, high-energy players to build a championship-caliber squad for the upcoming season.
Everything is lining up perfectly for the Celtics as yesterday it was confirmed that they went out
and signed two-way player Devin Carter from Sacramento and now he will be heading to Boston
where this lineup gets deeper and deeper as the days go on and the mastermind behind it all Joe
Mizzoula tries to build his championship team heading into next season. What's going on everyone
my name is Will Nicholson. I'm here with Celtics Digest. Today we're going to be talking about
Devin Carter. Now a good friend Kellen made a video yesterday talking about the rumor of it
but now it's confirmed we want to keep all you updated about Devin Carter. Before we get there
Celtics Digest is doing everything Celtics here and we're trying to build that subscriber count
as we go. So if you'd like to subscribe that would help us out a ton. You can keep up to date on
everything that is Celtics. Now Celtics again just keep adding to this depth you know you bring in
Mitchell Robinson uh you bring in guys like Paul George with the the Jalen Brown trade and now
another guy you have coming in in the form of Devin Carter. Most likely gonna end up in Maine but
who knows you know people have spot starts all the time in Boston you don't know what happens
with injuries. Now you have a two-way hustle player who plays both sides of the four and
is also going to be on a two-way contract. Celtics are looking pretty dangerous this year and that is
why on CalShi I have placed a bet for them to win over 50 games. You can see I put $25 on it and it's
about a $41 payout. Which brings us to the CalShi part where this video is sponsored by CalShi. On
CalShi you're trading directly against other users not like the traditional sports books where you're
going against the house. You're buying yes or no contracts on the outcome of events across sports,
politics, or even the weather. Whatever you feel like trading on and if you're interested in using
CalShi you can use our code DIGESTMBA link will be in the top of the description. You can get $25
added to your account instantly to get a free $25 to trade with. Again use if you're 18 or older
if you want to put your money where your mouth is on the Celtics that would be the best way to do it.
Now let's go on to Devin Carter. Again a guy very unknown. I guess you could say if you're not
totally into the NBA you might not know who he is but a guy very young guy coming into the league
got a little bit of tick for Sacramento but again not a whole ton going on. But you know the Celtics
are just building that depth now as we get closer and closer to the start of the season you want
more depth. He kind of plays that Hugo Gonzalez excuse me Hugo Gonzalez role where it's just
straight hustle and you can see it in his shooting splits as we go down further and further. Again a
guy who uh oh hold on bring up the graphic here we go there we go Devin Carter again great defender
uh plays both sides of the floor and the big question for him will be where does he fit in
the Celtics lineup? The more you look at his numbers the more that you will be intrigued. I mean for
me I'm looking at the shooting numbers here that zone efficiency likes to hit downhill go to the
paint uh mid-range kind of a dead shot in the NBA now so nothing that I would worry about. Also that
corner three is very interesting if you ask me. A guy who you know Joe can definitely drop some
plays for him and put him on the floor if he is needed come in knock down a corner three play
defense it's exactly what Hugo has done the past couple of years but just another guy who again you
can just throw into the lineup when you need. Hustle player exactly the type of guy that Joe
Mazzullo wants. Uh we're going to take a look at NBC Celt, NBCS Celtics excuse me right now
with their tweet on it saying former Kings point guard Devin Carter has reportedly agreed to a deal
with the Celtics. That is who broke the news to me that is how I found out go to NBCS Boston.
Uh again the Celtics just stockpiling players it feels like with all kind of the same profile you
know Hugo Gonzalez, Jordan Walsh kind of that three and D hustle even though Hugo needs to
shoot that three ball a little bit better but it's it's lining up for the Celtics you're starting to
see the type of guys on what this rotation will look like which is crazy because we are in September
now and it feels like we're still you know kind of up in the air what is the rotation going to
look like you know you know guys who are going to start obviously Tatum, Paul George, Robinson
and who knows from there really who else is going to be touching the floor Pritchard's probably
going to be your starting point guard and then is it Shireman, is it Gonzalez who else is going to
be slid in to that gap or is are we going to get more enemies Cato are we going to get majority
shooting ability who knows that's why these trades are so fun to speculate about uh with
Devin Carter mainly he's probably going to start off with the main team right let's see what I did
there uh you can take a look at the full main roster here some names that you might recognize
Amari Williams couple other young guys getting started so that is where he is going to do
majority of his damage most likely developing in Maine again a guy who uh young so has a lot of
time to develop I think Maine will be perfect for him working with that coaching staff and just
getting used to the system you see guys like Jordan Walsh, Hugo Gonzalez spent some time in
Maine I mean Walsh pretty much spent the whole year in Maine and look at him now he's a decent
player could end up starting for the Celtics in some spots you know maybe instead of Shireman
or Gonzalez you want to go Pritchard at one Paul George at the two Walsh at the three Tatum at the
four and then Mitchell Robinson like it's possible for these things to happen and we've seen Joe do
it before I mean Baylor Shireman started a couple of games last year so nothing is out of the
ordinary we'll pull this up for you one more time take a look at what your Maine Celtics are going
to look like I think that Devin Carter will slide in perfectly with the rest of these guys again
names that you probably recognize if you were up to date on the Celtics last year and paid
intense attention as you know I did and everyone else here on uh Digest Celtics who creates videos
for us did Ron Harper Jr. a guy who you know probably gonna get some more time on the big
team in Boston uh but you know we'll see there's still be a two-way player Max Shulga a guy who
will spend a lot of time down there but again got some starts uh towards the end of the season last
year just the end of the games Mari Williams still gonna be listed in there and that is where
Devin Carter will slip in a guy who's gonna come in take some of those guards minutes he has a lot
of experience in you know the NBA already in just his first year or two in the league so it's gonna
be interesting to see what this will look like going forward and again the Celtics a whole lot
of pieces on this team it feels like now it's gonna be exciting to see let's take a look at
the numbers that Devin Carter put up last year now again not a whole lot of minutes a game only
got 38 games in there and in those games not a whole ton of minutes he had going for him but
still a very productive player a guy who when he's on the floor he's gonna make an impact not just on
the offense side of the ball but defensively as well I mean the steals are great he had a turnover
problem a little bit of turnover problem which you'll see from point guards every now and then
especially the young ones they are bound to make mistakes but again you just peek at some of these
numbers here and it impresses you he is an assist man he can get the ball to where it needs to go
and just a guy that he feels like a Jomezula player and I don't feel like a bad line for
saying that a guy who you know is gonna come in and give you exactly what you need when you need
it if you need a stop excuse me you need to stop and you need someone to dish out assists he is
going to be the man for it again if you'll look at the three point percentage here it's gone down
from 29.5 in his rookie year to 26.3 but again when we looked at his shooting numbers earlier
that is to be expected and you know we'll take a look at it again here because his corner three is
something that I think is really interesting if once again zone efficiency that corner three that
goes down at 39 that is a great shot for him the corner three and I think the Celtics who like to
swing the rock a lot and you know constant ball movement I think that is where he'll slip in
perfectly if he's able to come in and make an impact in that way Devin Carter welcome to Boston
I know we are thrilled to have you my man very excited to get another guard into Boston even if
he's going to spend some time in Maine we'll see what you know the future holds but I want to hear
from you guys what do you think that Devin Carter will look like going forward is he going to get
more time in the NBA or will he spend time in the G League with the Maine team I want to thank you
