Celtics Just ROBBED the NBA...

The Boston Celtics just robbed the NBA as Brad Stevens has been cooking all offseason long and as we are just about a week away from the Celtics season opener, he makes one last move to make sure that mean i'm kind of shocked by the timing of this but it does make some sense for the Celtics aspect of things so let's look over this as Boston Celtics guard Peyton Pritchard has agreed to a two-year 44.2 million dollar contract extension plus a mutual option on the 29-30 season as the co-head of basketball Austin Brown and agent Max Sedman tell ESPN and i mean let's clap it up Brad Stevens i mean Peyton Pritchard has gotten better every single season and i mean last season he was so effective for this team and they couldn't have needed him anymore and we just look at the stats here 17 points per game 5.2 assists per game 3.9 rebounds per game all career highs he had 27 20 point games six 30 point games and one 40 point game all career highs and one of them is a 40 point game tying a career high as Peyton Pritchard is one of the most underrated players in the NBA and I think people really do realize that and maybe he's not as underrated as usual because you know if everyone's saying it then you know maybe we should start talking about him a little bit more and I think we will this season and just the type of player that he is being able to you know work so hard being playing with the main Celtics starting off there was no expectations a very highly talented and coveted college basketball player coming out older player and he just went in every day worked hard for his spot got some starting some games for this team especially last season and then switching back over to the bench position being that sixth man as that award that he has won in the past and i mean there's not a lot of people like Peyton Pritchard especially at his skill wanting to come back to the Boston Celtics knowing that this is probably the best situation for him the best situation for him to win championships and play the style of basketball that he knows he does best and i think that signing this extension is telling of that because i know that there was talks that maybe he wanted to go somewhere else where he'll be offered a lot more money and maybe a bigger opportunity to play more minutes but i think that he's really just taken in this role and accepted it that he does love he loves being that energy energy guy coming off the bench and if they need him to start games he will but it's not going to affect his play he just comes out and plays hard every single day and I couldn't be happier that Brad Stevens got this done and you know we look into this here obviously since Pritchard had two years left on his contract he would have been ineligible to sign an in-season extension which is the reason why the Celtics today inked him to a two-year 44 million dollar deal with a mutual option for the 29-30 season which is good value for Boston when we're talking about a mutual option that means when that comes up you know the Celtics could either opt in or Peyton Pritchard opts in the Boston Celtics can't necessarily opt out they just don't accept it but they can both mutually agree to step away and then he would enter free agency but I think with this in mind I feel like Peyton Pritchard is not going to want to go anywhere who knows time will only tell but he hasn't left yet and he definitely trusts in this Boston Celtics staff and the players around him because this is going to be a big big year for Peyton Pritchard and I expect those career highs from last season to bump up even more and that is only my hopes as we can do a little bit more breakdown just on this contract as well as this money couldn't have been more deserving I don't think of anyone else that deserves this money more than Peyton Pritchard as we've gotten him on constant steals I still think that this deal is a steal for Peyton Pritchard but I'm glad that he's getting paid a lot of money so Bobby Marks was kind enough to give us a breakdown of this Peyton Pritchard extension as his existing contract which is unbelievable is this year he'll be making 7.8 million dollars and then 8.3 next season and then you look at the extension for 28-29 he'll be making 21.2 million dollars and then that mutual option would have him make 22.9 million dollars and i feel like you know it's a big step up but I think there's a lot of money that he left behind in the past years that it's like you know this definitely makes up for all the great things that you've done please go ahead and i'll gladly give it to you as the first year of the extension is the maximum allowed of 140 percent of the average player's salary so Pritchard will be eligible to sign another extension starting in October of 2028 and i i would for damn sure tell you that Brad Stevens would love to do nothing more than sign him to another extension in October of 2028 but that is a long ways away and Peyton Pritchard could be an all-star by then who knows but we kind of just keep on moving on obviously our guy Ian comes out kind of tells us about some of the extensions that the Boston Celtics have done this offseason in which I think they did a fantastic job with Peyton Pritchard getting two years 44.2 million we got Jordan Walsh with those three years 15 million Nemee with four years 56 and Ron Harper three years nine mil and I mean the Boston Celtics did a great job you know when it comes to a championship team you need your star players you need that firepower but there's nothing more that you need than that star power than having those role players around you guys that are going to complement your star players like Paul George and Jason Tatum you need guys like this you need hard workers like Peyton Pritchard Jordan Walsh Nemee Ron Harper all these guys going through the main Celtics working to earn their spot onto this main Celtics Boston Celtics roster i mean if we talk about the grit and grind these guys are the grit and grind and Nobody deserved these contract extensions more than these players, especially Peyton Pritchard.
