So today we begin with Chris Finch reveals the Timberwolves master plan and get this,
it actually involves playing hard during the NBA preseason.
Today we're going to talk about what Finchie actually covered during the Timberwolves media
day. Welcome back to the Timberwolves Digest. As always, North America, I'm Dave DuBois and I bring
you the latest Minnesota Timberwolves news, trade reports, trade rumors, and of course,
a whole lot of commentary. We're going to get into what head coach Chris Finch
actually said during media day in just a little bit. But before we do that,
as a Minnesota Timberwolves fan, or just a fan of the National Basketball Association,
do you actually trust head coach Chris Finch to actually take the Timberwolves to an NBA title?
North America, I want to know what your thoughts and opinions are. Please go ahead and drop them
in. Also, if you are new to the Timberwolves Digest, thanks so much for stopping on by,
please go ahead and subscribe. And of course, if you like the pod, well then go ahead and like the
pod. So we're going to get into Chris Finch's comments in just a second, but I did want to
point this out. This is what Chris Finch has actually done as the Minnesota Timberwolves
head coach. And we all know that for a Timberwolves team, which quite frankly struggled
for a very long time throughout its history, this is actually pretty good. Now you might not always
agree with the moves that head coach Chris Finch makes, but I do think that there is an adult
actually leading this basketball team. All right, so a couple likes or dislikes. We're going to go
back to the beginning and a lot of the fundamentals Finch explained. Now this was
a quote from his media day. He went on to say the following, which is stuff that we've been
able to not ignore, but move through quicker with so much continuity in the roster the last few
years. Level set some stuff, expectations and standards for those new guys. Now the Timberwolves
have officially five significant new players on the roster this particular season. And I guess if
you were to include IO, that number would actually be six. Now this next statement that head coach
Chris Finch actually made just totally floored me and we're going to get to that next for you.
I think one of the best preseasons that we had was a couple of years ago during the 23-24 season
Finch noted. I think that was the year we got off to a pretty hot start like 17 and 14 and our team
in the preseason gave me a little bit of the same vibes this season. So we're going to get into a
couple other things that head coach Chris Finch said during the media day as well. But I would love
to know your thoughts because what Chris Finch is saying here is he believes that this team is
actually going to show up during preseason. I want to know if you think that's a reality or is that
just some sort of smokescreen. I understand what he's saying though. Since you have all of these
new parts, it is important to actually use the preseason to help this team actually if you will
find its groove. That is what head coach Chris Finch is saying. Hey super quick special shout
out to our sponsor on the Timberwolves Digest and that of course is Calshi. On Calshi you're
trading directly against the users not the house like traditional sports books. You're buying yes
or no contracts on the outcomes of events across sports politics or even the weather. Hey so here's
an example of something that I put together. This actually is a yes contract on the Timberwolves
actually on a five percent yes chance of winning the NBA title. You can see how much I put in and
what the payout actually looks like. So look Calshi is a great is a sponsor of the Timberwolves
Digest as you all know. If you're interested in trying out Calshi just use the link in the
description and pin comment and code DigestNBA to get 55 that's right 55 dollars added to your
account instantly when you trade your first 25 dollars. All right thanks again to Calshi for
sponsoring the Timberwolves Digest. Back to media day and head coach Chris Finch and
look I would love all of your thoughts and opinions. Once again do you think that Chris
Finch is the right guy? Is he the right head coach to actually lead this Timberwolves team
to an NBA title? I don't know about you but I am super excited to actually see this team play.
I cannot wait to see the Ant-Man and LaMelo ball. I can't wait to see LaMelo
a lob a pass to believe it or not and I'm going to say this Rudy Gobert and even Jonathan Kaminga
we know what the Ant-Man can do but I am telling you right now we are going to see a completely
different Minnesota Timberwolves team this year especially if LaMelo can stay healthy. All right
so back to Finch absolutely love Finch and his comments and personally I do think head coach
Chris Finch could lead this team to the NBA finals. I've got to believe that if he can take them all
away there and get through that difficult western conference I think Finch and I'm not being myopic
could actually lead this Timberwolves team to the promised land in other words an NBA title.
A lot has to go right from an injury perspective for that actually to happen but I do believe
Finch at this point hasn't given me any reason to believe he's not the right guy. All right so the
regular season is where you find your identity and your identity carries you almost most nights
I mean of course you also thanks for pointing out the obvious you also have to use the regular
season to be able to figure out what you're good at and what you might need as a curveball come
the playoffs. So ultimately a couple things about what head coach Chris Finch
said during media day and some things I didn't cover. There were some training wheel comments
about Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball and essentially saying you no longer have Mike
Connolly from a veteran leadership perspective it's your team take the team and run with it from
a leadership perspective. I think what we see with this Timberwolves team at this point and
what we see from what head coach Chris Finch said is they're going to go back to some basics during
training camp. He believes this team is actually going to and I emphasize believes that this team
is actually going to play hard during the preseason which inevitably is going to get the team off to
a good start during the regular season and then during the regular season they'll make the necessary
adjustments. All right love to get your thoughts your opinions in North America please go ahead
and drop them in. As always for the Timberwolves Digest I'm David Duvall wishing you all
a tremendous rest of your sports viewing day.
