AI GeneratedThe speakers critique a recent Thursday night football game between Seattle and Denver, describing it as one of the worst of the season. While both teams possess championship-caliber defenses, their offenses are struggling significantly. The discussion focuses on Denver's reliance on their defense to mask a failing offense and Seattle's risky decision to trade away their primary running back.
We talked about it yesterday, Craig.
I do not like either offense as currently constructed.
I did think both defenses for Seattle and Denver are good
and certainly above average in the NFL,
and they were on showcase last night.
But, boy, the Broncos have a Bo Nix problem here,
and we can change coordinators we want all day.
Something is just not right with the Denver offense.
And thank goodness for the defense.
I mean, how they have four wins, Craig, watching that game last night
through six weeks, didn't throw for 100 yards.
Nobody's rushing.
Sam Donald is a complete mess without a running game.
It's Denver, though, to me, might be the luckiest four-win team
that we have seen because
who are they scaring with that offense right now?
That's just kudos to them for winning four of those games.
Yeah, and you see, go back to Seattle for a minute.
I mean, look at Seattle's schedule.
I saw that last night, too.
They've got a tough schedule coming up.
They play Kansas City.
They play Chicago.
It's not going to be easy.
So, last night, I would say,
sort of emblematic of Thursday night football,
what we normally expect.
I think that, for me, that was one of the worst games of the season
in watching that game.
I was, like, basically on to baseball after about five minutes
in the first quarter.
i'm like what am i doing like this like this should
be against what i do like i am going back
to baseball and i'm not and i'm not going back
the harder thing for me too is is you know having
Amazon Prime and having Direct TV
which is what i have i can't really flip back and forth so you're
like it's not as easy like i'm like hitting a back button
and so i'm like you know what
bleep with this i am i'm done
with this football game i'll just check i'll just check online it
was brutal and you pose a good question four wins
are they the luckiest four wins yeah i think so
like i i mean i know everyone's making a lot
of fitzpatrick's comments that he said
setting the position back years, he eviscerated them yeah yeah
and and Sean Payton has proven
through the years to be one of the better head coaches
in the NFL it's unequivocal in fact take
a look at Denver before he got there with Vic Fangio
and Vance Joseph and all these other guys
that they had they couldn't get out
of their own way they had so many losing years in a row
even with those two guys who seemingly
were pretty good guys and pretty good coaches too
uh i i suspect that this is one of those scenarios where Denver
is not as good as their record is
but i do think as the season goes
on their offense will get better i don't know something tells me
it may not lead to more wins for them like i i don't think all
of a sudden they're going to go
on a run but i i sort of feel last night was rock bottom with it
and i do think that their offense
will get better and if i'm not mistaken
their offense in the second half of last year's NFL
season was excellent so what has changed from one year
to the next i don't know not covering the
team or being in a locker room
or really following them that closely other than the games we know
that the quarterbacking and the calling
the play calling situation that changed that hasn't made
a lick of a difference. Obviously, anybody who said that,
that was foolish. And the receivers aren't
really that good. I think Waddle got hurt last time
in the game. I hate to laugh about that.
I mean, this guy
is huge money
for nothing this season. Maybe the worst signing of all
of them, honestly, when you think about it.
So, what Denver
needs to do, this is my
humble opinion with the Denver Broncos.
They don't have Mike
Shanahan as head coach anymore. I
understand that. But the Broncos
with Terrell Davis and Olandis Gary
and Mike Anderson and Clinton Portis
and all of these running backs that they've had through the
years Joe where is that guy for Denver where
is the running back for them I know Dobbins was okay
yesterday he scored a touchdown I think they need
to go back to that Joe they I don't see a great
running back on their team I don't see great receivers
on their team so I don't really know
how to identify if Bo Nix is really good
or not and on the flip side you said it last night if
Seattle can't run the ball Sam Darnold's throwing
two three picks every game that's it but they
decided to trade Walker. They traded Walker.
So, I mean, there they are. That's it. And
now you have Sam Darnold. You're relying on him again,
which is a recipe for disaster.
And I saw he threw the first pick
and then the second pick late. I'm like, well, I mean,
you traded the running back. So what do you, this is what you get.
No idea what they're doing now.
At least hope is on the horizon for Sam Darnold Seattle,
because I think they're going to get there.
What they thought were going to be there to
starting running backs anyway back Charbonnet
and be back uh and hopefully uh you know Price
is back healthy as well
and then that I think they are set up better to be a little bit more
even keeled there because the defense is still championship quality
but the only good saving
grace for Denver and Bo Nix
and Sean Payton is that that defense is going to buy them enough
time to figure it out I don't know if they will figure it out
but at least they'll buy enough
time to figure it out.
