Why is Oregon-Nebraska a big deal?
Dante Moore is still out.
Super unfortunate.
That really is.
But Oregon
post-UCLA last week
and put forward a
disgusting football game.
And Dan Lanning is
especially because
Dan Lanning can't actually be on the hot seat.
Right?
Just to kind of connect what we were just saying.
James Franklin maybe is not fired
in a 2014 playoff era because
Penn State goes, you know what?
we are going to always make, I don't know,
but maybe he still is, because we would make it
with anybody. I don't know. Nevertheless,
in come Nebraska, and
you would think, Dylan
Rayola revenge game, or whatever
game. I don't know. Maybe it's Nebraska revenge.
I don't know, right? But it's like Dylan Raiola
versus old school. It's like, that's a
big thing. And then Dylan Raiola
was so bad.
So bad. Dave and I
talked about it last week before the UCLA game. We're like,
guys, I'm not sure you should just
blindly say to yourselves,
is Raiola, Dante Moore, no drop-off.
I think that would be a really dangerous thing to think.
And he got benched.
We don't know just yet who's going to start for Oregon.
By the way, this game is like almost 12 hours away.
So we're not going to know for a while.
However, I thought I was going to ultimately be like,
look, fun game to talk about.
I'm not going to bet.
This made my card.
I played Oregon at six and a half.
So we dropped this under a touchdown.
So UCLA, Nebraska.
UCLA is the better football team.
that was 10 with hey we know Raiola starting now it's Raiola
or you know it's Brock Thomas
we dropped it because of that performance
but Rayola still did the things he did against USC
I don't think that it is unreasonable
that you I actually think it is almost a guarantee no
matter what Oregon is going to get better
quarterback play this week than last week
I think Dan Lanning, off a loss,
is still a very, very dangerous head coach
and will run it up if the opportunity is provided.
I don't think Nebraska are bad.
I don't think this is a great spot.
All the emotion, a big noon kick at home against Indiana,
almost pulled off the upset, and now you've got to go all the way
to the Pacific Northwest to play Oregon?
I laid six and a half here with the Ducks, Dan.
I said it on the show to you last week.
Dillon Raiola is a backup quarterback for a reason.
He could have gone anywhere in the country,
and he's still a backup quarterback.
in today's day and age you can be a starter anywhere
and he's still a backup for a reason
and we saw that last week in that game how bad he played versus UCLA
in Nebraska like they played
well versus Indiana they played
a lot better versus Indiana anyone gave them credit for
you got to go now play an angry Oregon team
and just it is what it is Oregon was not as good as
people thought they were and you lose
your starting quarterback Heisman Trophy candidate
top 10 draft pick. It's going to hurt.
I don't think anybody saw Oregon losing
three or four games this season. They still can
end the season strong. They still can go to a
notable bowl game. I think any
notion of Dan Lanning being on the
hot seat is just as stupid as
Kalen DeBoer being on the hot seat in Alabama.
You're not going to get anybody better
to run your program that you have
right now in-house. They're still
going to get a quarterback back,
get a little bit of a defense, and
by the way, the loss to
Oklahoma State aged well.
Oklahoma State is number 18 in the country,
so that wasn't as bad of a loss as everybody thought it was.
Maybe don't go play UCLA and look as bad as you did,
but again, get a backup quarterback.
I think Oregon is a lot closer
to what we thought they were with Dante Moore
than what they're showing on the field,
and I don't necessarily blame Dan Lanning for that.
You're not going to win with a backup quarterback.
I do like him today versus Nebraska.
I think talent-wise, it's just ridiculously pushed towards Oregon,
And in Oregon, they need to win because they failed last week.
They looked terrible in doing so.
Didn't make my card, but I understand why it's on yours.
